Job Summary:

The Product Coordinator sits within the Technical Sales department and serves as the internal engine for product

lifecycle management, pricing authority, commercial governance, and market-facing product strategy. This role ensures the company has the right products, at the right price, with the right data, and functions as the cross-functional hub connecting Technical Sales to Sales, Technical, Purchasing, Customer Service, and the German parent company. The Product Coordinator combines commercial judgment with product and application knowledge to support revenue growth, margin performance, and new product introduction across the US market.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Pricing & Commercial Governance

• Manage standard and existing special product pricing for HORN USA, including US-produced products, and

vendor products.

• Conduct regular price reviews; benchmark against market conditions and the competitive landscape.

• Communicate approved pricing changes to Purchasing for system execution and to Customer Service for

customer-facing use.


New Product Development, Material Management & Market Intelligence

• Coordinate New Product Introduction (NPI) activities from market need through launch readiness.

• Identify market needs for US-produced products, with emphasis on inch-dimensioned products and holders.

• Collaborate with US operations and the German engineering/product teams to drive new product creation or

adaptation for US market.

• Manage the NPI process from need identification through market launch, including defining product

requirements and the business case, coordinating sample and prototype evaluation, and overseeing SAP

material setup and field launch readiness.

• Track competitive product offerings, pricing, and market positioning to inform product strategy.

• Monitor product sales performance, margin contribution, and return/complaint rates to inform lifecycle

decisions.

• Manage the full material lifecycle: introduction, active status, phase-out, and obsolescence.


Application Competency

• Maintain working knowledge across HORN's core application areas — turning, boring, mini milling, milling,

drilling, grooving, threading, slot milling, and broaching — to effectively manage products and support the

Technical Sales team.

• Serve as a product-level resource (not primary application support) to Technical Sales for product identification,

selection, and substitution questions.

• Develop foundational expertise to support future specialized product management in areas such as Thread

Whirling, PCD, Swiss Machining, and OCTG tooling.


Product Documentation & Catalog Stewardship

• Assist with development and confirm accuracy of product data sheets, spec documentation, and catalog content

used by the sales and technical teams.

• Partner with the German parent to ensure US market materials reflect current product specifications.


Cross-Functional Coordination

• Serve as the primary HORN USA liaison to the German parent company on product creation, data management,

and NPI coordination.

• Support the Purchasing department in maintaining SAP material master data, including updates, data integrity,

and management of obsolete items.


Performance & Reporting

• Track and report on pricing actions, margin performance, and NPI progress.

• Provide regular updates on material master health, product lifecycle status, and competitive intelligence.

• Support leadership with product-level insights during business reviews and planning cycles.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Proficiency in SAP or comparable ERP systems, particularly material master data, pricing conditions, and material

workflows.

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and tooling catalogs.

• Effective project coordination skills with the ability to drive cross-functional work without direct reporting

authority.

• Clear and professional written and verbal communication, including the ability to interface with the German

parent company.

• Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple parallel priorities across pricing, data, and NPI

workstreams.

• Analytical mindset with comfort using Excel and reporting tools to review sales, margin, and market data.


EDUCATION & TRAINING:

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred;

equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.


KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in product management, product coordination, inside/technical sales,

or a comparable role within a manufacturing or industrial distribution environment.

• Experience in the cutting tool, precision tooling, or broader metalworking industry strongly preferred.

• Working knowledge of metal cutting applications (turning, milling, drilling, grooving, threading, etc.) or

demonstrated ability to develop that knowledge quickly.

• Prior exposure to pricing management, NPI processes, or cross-functional coordination with international parent

or vendor organizations is a plus.


WORKING CONDITIONS

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Climate controlled production area/office environment.


HOUR/SHIFTS:

• Monday- Friday.

• Willingness to work flexible hours as needed to meet production deadlines and needs.


TRAVEL:

• Travel to Germany 1-2 times per year, with additional trips as required.

• Commensurate with experience and education.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have the ability to sit and stand for long periods of time as well as lift more than 10lbs.
