About Retail Insight

At Retail Insight, we're transforming the way some of the world's biggest retailers and CPG brands use data, analytics and technology to make smarter decisions.

Our people are at the heart of what we do. We bring together talented people with different experiences, perspectives and expertise to solve complex problems, challenge the status quo and make a real impact for our clients.

We're growing, and we're looking for an Insight Analyst to join our Client Analytics team.

About The Role

We're looking for an experienced Insight Analyst who can turn complex data into clear, actionable insights that help our clients make better business decisions.

You'll work on challenging analytical projects, using advanced analytical techniques to explore performance, uncover opportunities and solve real-world problems for some of the world's leading retailers and CPG brands.

This is a hands-on role that combines technical analysis with commercial thinking and clear communication. You'll work closely with colleagues across Client Analytics, Engineering and the wider business, as well as directly with client teams.

You'll also spend time in client markets and locations, validating your analysis and building a deeper understanding of the operational context behind the data.

What you'll be doing

  • Conducting complex data analysis to identify trends, opportunities and areas for improvement.
  • Using statistical modelling, predictive analytics and, where appropriate, machine learning techniques to generate actionable insights.
  • Taking ownership of complex analytical projects from initial scoping through to final recommendations.
  • Working independently to investigate problems that require an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors.
  • Translating analytical findings into clear, commercially relevant recommendations for clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Presenting complex information in a way that is engaging and easy for non-technical audiences to understand.
  • Contributing analytical expertise to strategic client and business projects.
  • Working closely with Client Analytics colleagues to make sure analysis is accurate, relevant and delivered to a high standard.
  • Collaborating with Engineering to improve data collection, data quality and analytical capabilities.
  • Building effective relationships with client teams and developing a strong understanding of their challenges and objectives.
  • Visiting client sites and markets to validate findings, understand how recommendations work in practice and strengthen the quality of our insights.
  • Keeping up to date with developments in analytics, tools and technology and applying relevant learning to your work.
  • Sharing knowledge, analytical approaches and best practice with colleagues across the team.

What we're looking for

  • At least three years' experience in data analysis, insight or a related analytical role.
  • A proven track record of delivering complex analytical projects and turning findings into meaningful business recommendations.
  • Strong SQL skills
  • Experience using data visualisation tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Strong knowledge of statistical analysis, with experience applying advanced analytical techniques to business problems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work confidently with large or complex datasets.
  • The ability to communicate technical findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and confidence working directly with clients.
  • The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and take ownership of quality outcomes.
  • A highly curious mindset and a genuine interest in understanding the story behind the data.
  • A degree or relevant professional experience.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites frequently.

Bonus points if you also have

  • Experience working within retail, grocery or CPG.
  • Experience using predictive analytics or machine learning techniques in a commercial environment.
  • Experience presenting analytical recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience working with client teams in stores, operational locations or head offices.
  • Experience collaborating with data engineering or technology teams.
  • An interest in developing new analytical approaches and improving how data is used across a business.

Don't tick every box? That's okay. If the role sounds exciting and you think you could bring something to the team, we'd still love to hear from you.
