Business Intelligence Developer
Indexed description
A leading global lifestyle brand's EMEA operation is hiring a Business Intelligence Developer to sit inside their Business Intelligence team and take real ownership of reporting and analytics across the UK Distribution Centre.
This isn't a remote dashboard-building role. You'll be embedded in the DC, working closely with warehouse, supply chain, finance and commercial stakeholders to understand what's actually happening on the ground and turn that into insight the business can act on. You'll pick up workload currently spread across the wider team during long-term absence and become the go-to analyst for DC performance.
Role: Power BI Developer / Analyst
Salary: Competitive
Location: St Ives, Cambridgeshire (typically 3 days in office, 2 at home)
What you'll be doing:
- Lead the design, development and continuous improvement of Power BI dashboards and reporting for the UK Distribution Centre
- Analyse data across AS400, Fabric, Manhattan Active WMS, SAP and financial systems to spot trends, risks, opportunities and root causes
- Develop and maintain reporting and performance metrics across warehouse operations, inventory, transport, customer service, labour productivity, costs and budgets
- Own data validation, modelling and quality across reporting solutions, keeping standards consistent across multiple business systems
- Identify and deliver opportunities to automate reporting, enhance existing dashboards and make information more accessible
- Partner with distribution, supply chain, finance, commercial and IT to prioritise reporting needs and deliver BI solutions that support real operational improvement
- Present findings, insights and recommendations clearly to management stakeholders
What you'll need:
- Strong Power BI development experience
- Solid SQL knowledge and confidence working with large datasets
- Strong data manipulation skills and excellent Excel
- Track record translating business requirements into practical analytical solutions
- Curious, inquisitive mindset with the ability to ask sensible questions and identify additional data needs
- Process-oriented, with an understanding of wider business impact rather than just delivering to spec
- Strong communication skills and confidence presenting to management stakeholders
Nice to have:
- Experience with Manhattan Active WMS, SAP, Fabric or AS400
- Knowledge of DAX optimisation
- Background in supply chain, warehouse or logistics environments
- Exposure to financial reporting and cost analysis
- Degree in business analytics, data analytics, computer science, information systems, mathematics, statistics, finance or similar
This role would suit a hands-on data analyst who wants to become an embedded part of an established BI team and shape how a busy distribution operation uses data, rather than build dashboards in a vacuum.
