We are partnering with an leading energy trading and analytics organisation that is seeking a Senior Quantitative Analyst to join its growing commercial team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of power markets, quantitative modelling, risk management, and commercial strategy. You will play a key role in developing pricing models, forecasting market dynamics, and supporting high-value wholesale energy transactions across North American power markets.
Working alongside traders, originators, and risk professionals, you will develop sophisticated analytical tools that help drive trading, valuation, and optimisation decisions. This role offers significant visibility across the business and the opportunity to influence how quantitative analytics are applied to real-world energy market challenges.
What You'll Be Doing
- Develop and enhance quantitative models used for energy valuation, forecasting, and trading decisions
- Create pricing methodologies for structured power and commodity transactions
- Support valuation activities across wholesale energy products and market contracts
- Build forecasting models for energy prices, volatility, capacity markets, and related commodities
- Conduct statistical and financial analysis using advanced quantitative techniques
- Partner with commercial, trading, and risk teams to evaluate opportunities and market exposures
- Design tools that improve risk assessment, portfolio management, and decision-making processes
- Research market fundamentals, regulatory changes, and industry developments affecting energy markets
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Physics, or a related quantitative discipline
- 4+ years of experience in quantitative analysis, energy markets, commodity trading, valuation, or risk management
- Strong understanding of statistical modelling and financial mathematics
- Experience building models using Python, R, MATLAB, SQL, or similar analytical tools
- Knowledge of wholesale energy markets, commodities, power trading, or structured products
- Familiarity with forecasting techniques, Monte Carlo simulations, scenario analysis, and regression modelling
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across commercial and technical teams
Nice to Have
- Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in a quantitative field
- Experience supporting energy trading, asset optimisation, or commercial origination teams
- Knowledge of power market fundamentals, forwards, futures, options, or risk analytics
- Exposure to renewable energy, storage, capacity markets, or energy transition technologies
