Business Data Analyst

The analyst will partner with product, operations, finance, and engineering teams to build trusted reporting and self-service analytics. The work includes writing production-quality SQL, maintaining dashboards, investigating data quality issues, and translating ambiguous business questions into measurable analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain analytical datasets and recurring reports in Snowflake or BigQuery using advanced SQL and dbt
- Define and document business metrics, KPI logic, and source-of-truth data models in collaboration with product and operations stakeholders
- Develop dashboards and self-service reporting in Looker, Tableau, or Power BI for product, revenue, customer, and operational performance
- Analyze trends, cohorts, funnels, and experiment results using SQL and Python to identify drivers and quantify business impact
- Investigate data discrepancies across warehouse tables, application events, and business systems; partner with data engineers to resolve root causes
- Automate recurring analyses and reporting workflows with Python, scheduled queries, and modern data orchestration tools
- Present concise findings and recommendations to technical and nontechnical audiences, clearly separating observed results from assumptions and limitations
- 1–3 years of experience in business analytics, data analysis, product analytics, or a related role
- Advanced SQL skills, including complex joins, window functions, CTEs, data validation, and query optimization
- Experience building dashboards and governed reporting in Looker, Tableau, Power BI, or an equivalent BI platform
- Working proficiency in Python for analysis, including pandas, basic statistical testing, and data visualization
- Familiarity with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift, plus dimensional modeling and dbt concepts
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clarify ambiguous requests, document metric definitions, and deliver decision-ready analysis
- Bonus: experience with experimentation, Amplitude or Segment, Airflow, Git, causal analysis, or a degree in statistics, economics, mathematics, computer science, business analytics, or a related field
