We are looking for a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to support financial planning and cost control activities in Central, Kentucky. This role focuses on analyzing production and operating costs, improving reporting accuracy, and helping leaders make informed budgeting and investment decisions. The ideal candidate brings strong experience with accounting systems, capital expenditure tracking, and cross-functional financial analysis.
Responsibilities:
• Analyze direct and indirect costs to identify trends, variances, and opportunities to improve financial performance
• Prepare and maintain cost reports, forecasts, and budget-related analyses to support operational and leadership decisions
• Monitor capital expenditure activity and ensure project spending is recorded accurately and aligned with approved budgets
• Partner with operations, finance, and accounting teams to strengthen cost controls and improve the reliability of financial data
• Support accounts payable and other core accounting activities by reviewing coding, allocations, and transaction accuracy
• Use ERP and accounting software platforms to manage financial records, generate reporting, and streamline routine processes
• Assist with month-end and year-end close tasks related to inventory, accruals, and cost accounting entries
• Evaluate cost structures and recommend process improvements that enhance efficiency and reporting consistency
• Strong knowledge of cost analysis, budgeting, and general accounting functions
• Hands-on experience working with ERP systems and accounting software applications
• Familiarity with capital expenditure tracking and financial reporting for investment projects
• Working knowledge of accounts payable processes and transaction review procedures
• Ability to interpret financial data, investigate variances, and communicate findings clearly
• Strong organizational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
