JOB SUMMARY:

Under general direction, this position collects and analyzes data, and compiles information into a final form for presentation or submission; fielding data requests and produces annual reports; developing, maintaining, and querying databases or dashboards; researching to compile data covering a variety of subject areas including student, staff, and community data; completes and submits state reporting data, works alongside subject matter experts and adheres to deadlines, data governance standards, privacy regulations, and institutional definitions.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Creates data reports and visualizations by querying databases or dashboards and analyzing data on topics such as student recruitment, admissions, financial aid, enrollment, retention, course success, completion, commencement, transfer, job placement and wages, academic program effectiveness and viability, personnel.
  • Compiles data for grants, surveys, evaluations, and special topics for weekly enrollment meetings
  • Completes assigned state reporting data submissions by collecting data, adheres to database rules, creates new processes in response to database changes, reviews submissions for data quality, works with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy, and submits data before deadlines.
  • Collects, reviews, and assimilates information for decision-making, strategic planning, accreditation, or auditing.
  • Maintains commencement reports and fulfills ad-hoc data commencement requests and projections
  • Confers with personnel of organizational units needing data to learn specific input and output requirements, such as what information is needed, how data is to be summarized, and how reports should be formatted; Documents detailed description of user needs, programs functions, and steps required to develop or modify database queries.
  • Fulfills data requests, updates and verifies annual reports, and maintains recurring tasks
  • Analyzes existing information processes techniques to evaluate effectiveness and develops new techniques to improve production or workflow as required for implementation.
  • Conducts research pertaining to the development of new data services to meet current and projected needs.
  • Communicates data effectively in a wide variety of formats to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Applies full understanding of IRSC policies and procedures, and stays abreast of current and emerging issues.
  • Exercises judgment and discretion regarding student and employee privacy, and following FERPA regulations
  • Builds and maintains strong collaborative relationships across the College as well as ensuring effective integration and appropriate dissemination of data across operational areas.
  • Completes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

The qualifications, knowledge, and skill requirements for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in math, computer science, or a related area;
  • Minimum two (2) proven work experience with a variety of computer software including Excel, SQL or SAS, and Access or other relational databases.
  • Proven working knowledge of computer applications including spreadsheets, word processing, database management, and presentation graphics.
  • Knowledge of Florida State College System reporting requirements (preferred).
  • Experience with the College’s ERP (preferred).
  • Demonstrated self-motivation with the ability to handle multiple priorities and assignments, and function independently with minimal supervision;
  • Exercises judgment and discretion regarding student and employee privacy, and following FERPA regulations
  • Excellent critical thinking, interpersonal, and communication skills;
  • Ability to maintain strict accuracy and be detail oriented.
  • Ability to work effectively with College staff and administrators on all levels, and as a team.
  • Strong organization and time-management skills with experience prioritizing and managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines
  • Strong commitment to the college mission.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
