Data Engineer

We're hiring on behalf of a Haystack partner!

The Role

• Own the end-to-end lifecycle of modern BI dashboards, from concept to go-live, ensuring they are intuitive, performant, and decision-relevant.

• Deeply engage with business domains, systematically gather requirements, refine use cases, define KPIs, moderate workshops, and advise stakeholders on prioritization and implementation.

• Design and maintain robust semantic data models (e.g., Star Schema, KPI Layer) in close collaboration with backend and Microsoft Fabric teams, ensuring they are clean, consistent, and scalable.

• Ensure data quality, governance, and security by validating metrics, establishing rollout and versioning concepts, and implementing RLS/OLS, Sensitivity Labels, and clear documentation.

• Analyze marketing, sales, and market data to identify correlations and growth opportunities, develop BI strategies, and present insights clearly to various audiences, including management.

What You'll Need

• A Master's degree, preferably from a reputable university, in fields such as Data Science, Business Informatics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Business Analytics.

• Minimum 4-5 years of experience in developing Power BI frontend solutions within a B2B/enterprise environment, with excellent proficiency in DAX, Power Query M, and semantic data modeling (e.g., Star Schema, Dimensions/Facts).

• Solid practical experience in stakeholder management, consulting, and requirements engineering, with the ability to translate complex business needs into viable, scalable BI solutions.

• A structured, precise, and responsible work approach, with the ability to proactively address risks, offer solutions, handle feedback constructively, and thrive in a team environment.

• High willingness to learn and strong technology affinity, particularly within the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem, along with fluent German and English (C1 level minimum).
