Data Engineer BI (m/w/d)

About the Role

CGM is seeking a Data Engineer BI to transform complex data into clear, valuable business insights and develop user-friendly Business Intelligence solutions.

In this role, you will own the complete lifecycle of modern Power BI dashboards, from initial concepts and prototypes through to go-live. You will work closely with business departments to understand requirements, define use cases and KPIs, facilitate workshops, and advise stakeholders on prioritization and implementation.

You will also develop scalable semantic data models in collaboration with backend and Microsoft Fabric teams while ensuring data quality, governance, security, and clear documentation. Your insights will support marketing, sales, and market data analysis and help identify relationships and growth opportunities for different audiences, including management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the complete lifecycle of Power BI dashboards from initial concept and prototyping through to go-live.
  • Develop intuitive, high-performance, and decision-relevant Power BI solutions.
  • Gather and structure business requirements from different specialist departments.
  • Define use cases and KPIs based on business needs.
  • Facilitate workshops and advise stakeholders on prioritization and implementation.
  • Design and maintain scalable semantic data models, including Star Schemas and KPI layers.
  • Work closely with backend and Microsoft Fabric teams on data model design and maintenance.
  • Validate key metrics and support data quality management.
  • Establish rollout and versioning concepts.
  • Implement and maintain security measures such as RLS/OLS and Sensitivity Labels.
  • Maintain clear and traceable technical and functional documentation.
  • Analyze marketing, sales, and market data to identify relationships and growth opportunities.
  • Develop BI strategies and translate complex data into clear, compelling insights.
  • Present findings and recommendations to different audiences, including management.

Required Qualifications

  • Completed Master's degree, preferably in Data Science, Business Informatics, Mathematics, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • 4–5 years of experience developing Power BI front-end solutions in a B2B or enterprise environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of DAX.
  • Excellent knowledge of Power Query M.
  • Strong expertise in semantic data modelling, including Star Schema and dimensions/facts.
  • Strong experience in stakeholder management, consulting, and requirements engineering.
  • Ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable BI solutions.
  • Structured, precise, and responsible approach to work.
  • Ability to identify risks early and provide solution-oriented recommendations.
  • Strong team-oriented and collaborative approach.
  • High willingness to learn and strong technology affinity, particularly within the Microsoft Fabric environment.
  • Fluent German.
  • English proficiency at least at C1 level.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Microsoft Fabric environments.
  • Experience developing BI solutions for enterprise or B2B organizations.
  • Experience working with marketing, sales, and market data.
