Senior Business Analyst – Operational Finance
Confidential - $500M+ private-equity sponsored services company with multiple locations.
Location: Wisconsin
Travel: Regional, including WI, IL, OH
Our client, a leading provider of residential HVAC, plumbing, and electrical services across the Midwest, is strengthening its regional finance capabilities. We’re seeking a Senior Business Analyst who thrives in operator‑focused environments and enjoys turning data into practical, actionable insight.
This role sits within Operational Finance, not accounting, and serves as a hands‑on business partner to General Managers and Regional Directors across a large portion of the Company's footprint. You’ll help leaders understand what’s driving performance, identify issues early, and translate KPIs into financial impact that supports better day‑to‑day decisions.
What You’ll Do
- Partner closely with operating leaders to provide fact‑based analysis that improves performance and informs decisions around revenue, labor, pricing, marketing, and capacity.
- Maintain and enhance a consistent daily/weekly KPI cadence across the region: lead volume, booking, dispatch, technician productivity, average ticket, close rate, capacity utilization, and revenue pacing.
- Support annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, weekly flash reporting, and scenario modeling that connects operating drivers to revenue, margin, EBITDA, and cash flow.
- Lead monthly operating reviews with clear variance commentary, root‑cause insights, and actionable recommendations.
- Conduct margin and pricing analytics across companies, departments, job types, technicians, and customer segments.
- Build financial models to evaluate hiring, marketing spend, fleet needs, capacity changes, pricing actions, and growth initiatives.
- Benchmark performance across locations to identify leading practices and operational outliers.
- Improve dashboards, reporting tools, and data processes; partner with accounting to ensure systems like ServiceTitan, Sage Intacct, and BI platforms support decision‑useful reporting.
- Support acquisition integration through KPI tracking, synergy measurement, and onboarding new locations into the Company's operating rhythm.
What Success Looks Like
- Operators receive timely, clear insights that explain not just what happened, but why: and what to do next.
- KPIs provide early visibility into revenue, productivity, margin, and capacity trends.
- Forecasts become increasingly driver‑based and accurate.
- Monthly reviews focus on actionable business drivers rather than historical reporting.
- Pricing, productivity, membership, marketing, and technician‑level analyses lead to real, quantified field opportunities.
- Operating leaders view finance as a trusted partner and proactively seek your support.
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, or related field.
- ~4+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, business analytics, or operational/transaction consulting.
- Strong forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, financial modeling, and unit‑economics skills; advanced Excel capability.
- Experience in multi‑site, decentralized, or field‑services environments strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with ServiceTitan, Sage Intacct, Domo, or similar ERP/BI tools is beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to challenge assumptions and build credibility with operators.
- Self‑directed, curious, and comfortable moving between detailed analysis and practical field‑level decision support.
- Willing to spend meaningful time in the field with local leadership.
