The student will gain hands-on exposure to plant operations, cross-functional collaboration, manufacturing processes, and operational problem-solving while supporting the Operations and Plant Leadership teams.
Essential Job Functions
- Collect, compile, and analyze operational and production data including throughput, downtime, labor utilization, scrap, schedule adherence, and workflow efficiency.
- Support plant operations initiatives including continuous improvement projects, production tracking, and operational reporting.
- Observe and document manufacturing and operational processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Assist with development and maintenance of operational procedures, standardized work instructions, and process documentation.
- Support production planning, workflow coordination, and plant performance initiatives.
- Participate in root cause analysis activities related to production inefficiencies, delays, or operational challenges.
- Assist with implementation and tracking of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Production teams on cross-functional projects.
- Support plant manager and operations leadership with special projects and operational priorities.
- Prepare spreadsheets, charts, graphs, presentations, and reports to support operational analysis and decision-making.
- Participate in departmental meetings and operational reviews.
- Take ownership and responsibility for assigned operational projects and tasks.
- Work within specifications provided to meet project goals and objectives in a timely and accurate manner.
- Participate on project teams for assigned projects; analyze operational improvements and process enhancements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Special Skills And Physical Requirements
- Computer skills must include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and interact with multiple departments.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Actively enrolled as a student pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Business Management, Supply Chain, or related field.
- Must have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
