The City of Bangor is seeking a motivated university student for a Fall 2026 internship supporting city planning and sustainability initiatives. This position provides practical, applied experience that complements academic programs across engineering, environmental sciences, climate studies, planning, data analytics, public policy, and related fields.

Working closely with City staff, the intern will assist with research, analysis, and project development. Hours are flexible to accommodate academic schedules.

This is a temporary paid internship at $20 per hour with a schedule of 10–20 hours per week, with flexible scheduling around classes and exams. Funding supports approximately 16 weeks of work during the Fall 2026 semester. The internship may be extended into Spring 2027 if the budget allows. Academic credit may also be arranged. Candidate Requirements

  • Must be enrolled at a local college or university during Fall 2026.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, graphically, as well as oral and written.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate clearly in a professional setting.
  • Experience with GIS, data visualization, renewable energy concepts, engineering methods, or environmental analysis is helpful but not required.
  • Interest in urban or environmental planning, local government, sustainability, energy systems, and/or climate action.
