Business Intelligence and AI Analyst
Indexed description
The Opportunity
This is an organization-wide role supporting all three companies, built around two things: Business Intelligence and AI-driven automation. You'll own the tools, systems, and platforms that power how the business runs — turning scattered data across sales, operations, service, and inventory systems into clear, trusted, decision-ready insight, while actively bringing AI and machine learning into how the business reports, forecasts, and automates work. You'll also own the underlying tech stack itself: the systems, integrations, and platforms that make all of this possible.
Key Responsibilities
Business Intelligence & Analytics
- Develop, maintain, and optimize BI dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions that support decision-making across Elite Marine, Southern Marine Supply, and Spot Zero.
- Collect, clean, organize, and analyze data from multiple business systems and data sources spanning all three companies.
- Design and maintain data models, data pipelines, and reporting structures to ensure accurate, reliable business insights.
- Build automated reporting and KPI tracking solutions to improve operational visibility and performance monitoring across the organization.
- Identify trends, patterns, and opportunities within company data, and communicate actionable insights to stakeholders and leadership.
- Partner with business users across all three brands to understand reporting requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across all reporting platforms and analytics environments.
- Leverage AI and machine learning tools to improve reporting, forecasting, process automation, and overall BI capability.
- Identify opportunities across all three companies where AI and automation can replace manual work, accelerate reporting, or unlock new analytical capability.
- Support ongoing improvements to analytics, automation, and AI initiatives organization-wide, keeping the company at the leading edge of what's practically achievable.
- Build, monitor, and troubleshoot API connections across business systems (CRM, ERP, inventory, service, and financial platforms) on an ongoing basis to keep data flowing accurately across all three companies.
- Continuously build out and maintain the organization's data lake, adding new data sources and expanding coverage as systems and business needs evolve.
- Perform regular data validation, cleanup, and pipeline maintenance to ensure the data lake and connected systems remain a reliable single source of truth.
- Architect and maintain scalable data pipelines that feed BI, reporting, and AI initiatives from the data lake and connected systems.
- Manage day-to-day data governance, security, and quality checks across all integrated systems and the data lake environment.
- Own and manage the organization's core technology stack — the systems, platforms, and integrations that support BI, data, and business operations across all three brands.
- Evaluate new tools and platforms, and lead implementation and integration efforts as the business grows.
- Maintain system reliability, data integration, and platform performance across the tech environment.
- Partner with business users across all three brands to understand reporting and technology needs, and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
- Support ongoing improvements to analytics, automation, AI initiatives, and the broader technology environment organization-wide.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- Strong hands-on experience with BI platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of data analysis, reporting, and dashboard development.
- Experience with SQL and relational databases.
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining API connections between business systems (CRM, ERP, or similar platforms).
- Experience designing or building data lakes or centralized data repositories.
- Demonstrated experience with AI, machine learning, predictive analytics, or generative AI tools — not just exposure, but applied use.
- Comfort owning and managing technology systems and platforms, not just using them.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts and data insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI, Claude, OpenAI, or similar technologies.
- Experience with cloud data platforms (Azure Data Lake, AWS S3/Redshift, Snowflake, or similar).
- Experience managing or administering a broader business tech stack (systems integration, platform administration, IT tool evaluation).
