Summary
Job Description: The Senior Advisor Clinical Research Revenue Systems & Operations, serves as a strategic advisor within Clinical Research and Research Grants, focused on improving financial performance through optimization of research workflows, system processes, and reporting. In partnership with Principal Investigators (PIs), Clinical Research Revenue Cycle, Finance, Research Finance, Clinical Trials Business office and Clinical Research leadership, this role applies deep understanding of clinical research operations, CTMS platforms (e.g., OnCore), and system-driven workflows to identify opportunities to improve reimbursement, revenue capture, and overall financial outcomes. The Senior Advisor Clinical Research Revenue Systems & Operations is responsible for connecting how work is performed—across study startup, study conduct, study funding, grant funding, clinical trial activity, and research billing to financial results reflected in Workday and other reporting structures. This includes developing and maintaining integrated dashboards (Power BI) and ensuring that systems such as OnCore, EPIC, and Workday effectively support clinical research and financial performance. This position focuses on how operational workflows, and system interactions drive revenue, margin, and income statement outcomes, providing practical, actionable guidance to improve performance across the Clinical Research portfolio. Minimum Experience Required: Bachelors Degree: Healthcare Admin, Business, Finance, Clinical Research, Informatics, Information Systems or related field A minimum of five (5) years of experience within Clinical Research operations, research administration, or research financial workflows. Experience must include:
- Research finance, grant and sponsored research operations
- Clinical research workflows and trial lifecycle
- Working with system-driven processes that impact financial and revenue outcomes
- Experience developing and maintaining Power BI dashboards and reports Minimum Skills/Specialized Training Required: Strong understanding of:
- Clinical research workflows and trial lifecycle
- CTMS platforms (e.g., OnCore) and protocol calendar/financial build
- Research billing, charge routing, and reimbursement processes
- How operational workflows translate into revenue, margin, and income statement outcomes
- Strong understanding of how data flows across systems impact financial outcomes Abilities:
- Ability to function as a strategic advisor focused on operations, systems, and revenue outcomes
- Ability to connect data, systems, and workflows into operationally meaningful insights
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain:
- Revenue flow mechanics
- Workflow and system impacts on financial results
- Ability to collaborate and influence across stakeholder groups
- Practical, solutions-oriented mindset focused on improving outcomes Training and/or Experience working with:
- CTMS EPIC (research/clinical workflows and billing)
- Workday (financial reporting and income statement views)
