We are looking for an experienced Epic Cogito Business Intelligence Manager, to lead our team into its next chapter of excellence.
In this role you will oversee the strategic direction and management of the Epic Business Intelligence team at Xtensys. You will drive the strategy by overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of reporting solutions. This manager will serve as a vital bridge between executive leadership, operations, and analysts to transform data assets into operational insights, improved patient outcomes, and optimized financial performance.

What You’ll Do Day-to-Day: Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Talent Development
- Empower & Mentor: Manage daily workloads, performance reviews, professional growth plans, and balanced oncall scheduling for a team of specialized analysts.
- Strategic Roadmap: Define the longterm vision for Epic analytics and reporting tools at Xtensys.
- Community & Stakeholders: Manage vital relationships with clinical, financial, and operational leaders, and partner with operations to drive our Citizen Developers program.
- Lead the Cogito Team: Oversee the daytoday operations of the analytics team, ensuring the delivery of highimpact operational dashboards, executive performance metrics, and standardized templates.
- Data Integrity: Troubleshoot complex reporting workflows, data model inconsistencies, and integrated data errors to maintain validated profiles.
- Drive Governance: Oversee data governance within the reporting infrastructure, proposing updated validation workflows, data lineage policies, and standard reporting procedures.
- Audit & Remediate: Conduct routine internal audits of report usage and metric definitions, preparing documentation for regulatory compliance reviews.
- Analytics Lifecycle: Create project charters, execute structured implementation phases, and establish postgolive reporting support plans.
- Collaborative Workflows: Lead crossfunctional reporting workgroups and partner with Application Managers to seamlessly optimize analytics delivery.
- Strategic Resource Planning: Assist the Director with annual budgeting, tracking team metrics, and justifying resource allocations.
- AutomationFirst Focus: Identify bottlenecks to automate manual data preparation and streamline dashboard access provisioning.
- Data & SLA Accuracy: Maintain a high accuracy rate on clinical/financial metrics and meet target SLAs for critical analytical insights.
- Project Delivery: Meet all analytics project milestones, workgroup initiatives, and scheduled internal compliance audits on time.
- Team Stability & Readiness: Drive annual team competency growth, eliminate oncall schedule gaps, and ensure new hires have correct system access on Day 1.
- Compliance & SOPs: Resolve data quality findings and update reporting standard operating procedures (SOPs) annually.
- Fiscal Responsibility: Deliver weekly and monthly visibility metrics while keeping operational spending strictly within the allocated budget.
- Two to Five plus years’ experience managing technical teams or healthcare analytics projects.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and relational database structures.
- Deep understanding of healthcare workflows, billing, and clinical terminology.
- Track record of managing fulllifecycle business intelligence projects.
- FullCycle Talent Leader: Proven experience recruiting, mentoring, and developing highperforming, selfdirected teams with a strong focus on employee engagement and retention.
- Influential Communicator: Ability to build strong relationships, lead crossfunctional initiatives, and influence stakeholders across multiple disciplines without direct authority.
- Business & Financial Acumen: A highintegrity leader who champions innovation, manages execution seamlessly, and maintains a meticulous attention to detail.
- Thrives Under Pressure: Strong organizational and problemsolving skills, with the ability to navigate tight deadlines and deliver creative solutions for clients.
- Epic Cogito Leadership: Deep experience leading and managing Epic Cogito business intelligence developers for a multientity health system or Community Connect environment.
- Implementations & Modules: A proven track record of implementing Epic in new hospitals or ambulatory practices, paired with a solid understanding of downstream modules (Cadence, Ambulatory, PB, and HB).
- Data Governance & Council Collaboration: Prior experience partnering with data governance committees or Epic councils, alongside the technical depth to mentor teams on security concepts.
- Compliance & Trust: Deep familiarity with regulatory requirements (including HIPAA) and an absolute commitment to safeguarding sensitive data and PHI.
- Certification in Caboodle and Clarity Data Models is preferred.
- This role requires annual travel of up to 25%, which includes mandatory onsite deployment to the client's command center for two weeks during system golives unless the client specifies otherwise. Additionally, you will travel to the client site for three days during postlive followup visits.
- The physical requirements for this remote position consist primarily of sedentary work, which involves sitting for extended periods while executing tasks on a computer.
- Daily operations require fine motor skills for prolonged keyboard and mouse use, along with the visual acuity necessary to review digital records and participate in frequent video conferences.
- The employee must also be able to occasionally stand, walk, and flex or reach as needed throughout the workday and may require the physical capability to occasionally lift, move, or manipulate office equipment and files weighing up to 25 pounds.
