About The Role
We have an e opportunity for a Data & AI Consultant to join our growing Data & AI practice. In this role, success looks like solutions that get adopted, not shelved: reports that are actually used, business stakeholders who trust the numbers because you explained them clearly, and delivery patterns that lift the whole team. You'll design, build and support analytics solutions across Microsoft Fabric and Power BI for customers in education, government and commercial sectors — with exposure to Copilot, Azure OpenAI and agent-based solutions as we extend into Generative AI.
Responsibilities
- Design, build and optimise end-to-end analytics solutions in Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse and Warehouse design, Data Factory pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, notebooks and the medallion (bronze/silver/gold) pattern
- Build and tune Power BI semantic models and reports, including star schema modelling, DAX, Power Query (M), incremental refresh, row-level security and performance tuning
- Run discovery workshops and stakeholder interviews, mapping business processes and KPIs into requirements the business can sign off on
- Turn ambiguous business questions into a defensible data model, metric definitions and delivery plan
- Deliver supporting automation using Power Apps, Power Automate and Dataverse where relevant
- Apply governance and security good practice across workspaces, source control, access models and data quality controls
- Produce clear solution documentation, handover material and customer enablement/training
- Support pre-sales activity, including scoping, effort estimation and demonstrations
- Mentor junior consultants and contribute reusable assets back into the practice
- Own delivery quality on your engagements, managing scope, timeline and stakeholder communication
Essential Criteria
- Extensive, hands-on experience delivering business intelligence and data solutions on the Microsoft stack, including time in a consulting or customer-facing delivery role
- Strong, demonstrable Power BI skills, including dimensional/star schema modelling, advanced DAX, Power Query (M), report design and performance optimisation
- Practical delivery experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse/Warehouse, OneLake, Data Factory pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, Direct Lake and semantic model deployment
- Strong SQL skills and a solid grasp of data warehousing and modelling fundamentals
- Strong analytical ability — confident interrogating messy data and reasoning from a business question to the right solution
- Genuine business analyst capability, including requirements elicitation, KPI mapping, stakeholder management and workshop facilitation
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the confidence to present to and defend solutions with stakeholders up to executive level
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing competing priorities across multiple customers
- Australian work rights, and willingness to undergo relevant background/probity checks (including a Working with Children Check where required)
- Able to demonstrate your work through sample reports, semantic models, a public portfolio, or a walkthrough of solutions you've personally delivered
- Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600)
- Strong Power Apps experience (canvas and model-driven apps, Dataverse modelling, solution-based ALM)
- Strong Power Automate experience (cloud flows, connectors, approvals, process automation)
- Experience with Fabric or Power BI governance at scale — tenant settings, capacity management, deployment pipelines and Git integration
- Experience running enablement sessions for customer business users
- Additional certifications such as PL-300, DP-700, PL-600 or AZ-900/DP-900
- Exposure to Copilot in Power BI/Fabric, Azure OpenAI or agent-based solutions
- Python or PySpark for notebook-based transformation in Fabric
- Experience with Azure data services and Azure DevOps/GitHub for source control and CI/CD
- Experience with agile delivery methods such as Scrum or Kanban
- Industry experience in education, government or not-for-profit sectors
