This role will analyze operating costs, financial data, customer requirements, and profitability to determine appropriate rates and evaluate pricing effectiveness. The Pricing & Business Analyst will also partner with Operations, Accounting, Sales, and leadership to develop reporting solutions, improve data quality, and provide insight that supports better business decisions.
Responsibilities Pricing & Profitability
- Own and continually improve pricing methodologies for Givens’ asset-based transportation and warehousing services
- Analyze labor, equipment, facilities, utilization, customer requirements, service levels, operating costs, and profitability
- Develop and maintain pricing models, rate structures, cost assumptions, and supporting documentation
- Determine and approve pricing based on company objectives, operating capabilities, cost recovery, and operating-ratio expectations
- Review pricing effectiveness by evaluating realized margins, customer profitability, cost changes, and overall pricing performance
- Identify opportunities to improve rates, margins, and profitability
- Analyze transportation, warehouse, yard, accounting, and customer data to identify trends, cost drivers, and performance opportunities
- Work with operating teams to understand how information is entered, processed, and reported
- Help improve system usage, data accuracy, and reporting processes
- Clearly explain analytical findings and recommendations to business leaders
- Partner with Operations, Accounting, Sales, and leadership to identify business questions and reporting needs
- Translate business needs into clear data and reporting requirements
- Document metric definitions, data sources, assumptions, dependencies, and known limitations
- Identify and connect information from TMS, WMS, YMS, accounting, and other business systems
- Develop SQL queries and other data solutions supporting reporting and data-lake development
- Investigate discrepancies and reconcile information across multiple systems
- Build, modify, and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and analytical tools
- Support consistent definitions, reliable source data, and repeatable reporting practices
- Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders, Information Systems & Analytics, and technical resources
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, Information Systems, Analytics, or a related field
- Four to seven years of experience in pricing, business analysis, financial analysis, operations analysis, systems analysis, or a related role
- Experience working with operational and financial data in transportation, logistics, warehousing, manufacturing, distribution, or another asset-intensive environment
- Experience gathering business requirements, identifying data sources, evaluating data limitations, and developing analytical solutions
- Prior experience with business analytics and pricing methodologies in transportation, freight, or warehousing
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI
- Experience with SQL and developing data queries
- Strong analytical judgment, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate complex data and recommendations clearly
- Sound judgment with proactive, critical, and strategic thinking skills
- Experience with ETL processes and data lakes
- Experience working with TMS, WMS, or YMS platforms
- Experience with Azure, SQL Server, or MCP servers
