Consultant, Healthcare Economics (hybrid)

This position is hybrid in San Antonio, TX - with flexibility to come onsite any 3 days per week.
Primary Responsibilities
- Research, retrieve, design, troubleshoot, and deliver organized analytics regarding healthcare, capitation, accounts receivable, utilization data, claims data and financial accounting data
- Serves as a subject matter expert in healthcare economics, capitation, medical claims, utilization, revenue performance, and financial data analysis
- Synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights and recommendations for operational and executive leadership
- Analyzes and extracts data from the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) to report to internal and external customers
- Serves as a key resource to Finance teams by providing analytical support and technical expertise
- Designs, develops, tests, documents and database queries for ad hoc reporting used in complex conceptual analyses
- Develops systematic reporting processes and procedures to ensure timely delivery of weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc reporting to management
- Recommends and implements new or modified reporting methods and procedures to improve report content and completeness of information
- Analyze benchmarking data, reports, processes, and measurements for key managed care indicators to recognize trends and assist in developing forecasts and financial planning
- Collaborates with Finance, Operations, Clinical, IT, and Business Intelligence teams to identify opportunities for performance improvement and process optimization
- Develop innovative approaches to achieve deliverables and increase efficiency
- Provides informal leadership, mentoring, and technical guidance to analysts and cross-functional project teams
- Performs all other related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field required (4+ additional years of comparable work experience beyond the required years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a bachelor's degree)
- 5+ years of general healthcare accounting, finance, or operations experience
- 2+ years of experience in reporting and analytical role
- Understanding of the complexity of Member healthcare accounting, claims and revenue
- Proficiency in SQL and Microsoft Excel
- 5+ years of reporting and analytic experience
- 3+ years of experience in a managed care environment
- Experience with business intelligence and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, SSRS, or similar)
- Experience working with enterprise data warehouses, large healthcare datasets, and automated reporting solutions
