Position Overview

As an Operations Engineering COOP at Cygnet Energy, you will have the opportunity to be a key player in a dynamic team of professionals focused on maximizing the value of our Montney and Duvernay assets. This role reports to the Production Engineering Manager and will work alongside a multi-disciplinary team of Operations professionals.

You will be responsible for providing technical support for our Production & Facilities engineering and operations. You will be tasked with recommending opportunities for improvement in how Cygnet Energy designs, plans and executes operations and capital projects while ensuring adherence with Cygnet Energy Standards and regulatory requirements.

The Operations Engineering COOP will gain valuable experience by working in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary business with a focus on Production & Facilities engineering and operations.


Term and Experience

Minimum eight (8) months and open to a longer term, commencing January 4, 2027. We are looking for a second or third year engineering student at minimum.


Job Duties & Responsibilities

HSE & Regulatory

· Strive to create a strong HSE culture protecting people, environment, Cygnet Energy business assets, and reputation.

· Ensure work is executed in compliance with all regulatory requirements.

· Interface with and support the HSE team during work execution as required.

Leadership and Collaboration

· Collaborate with peers, colleagues and teams, as assigned.

· Demonstrate leadership within peer group on assigned projects.

· Support the Operations team in ensuring quality and optimal program development and execution.


Technical & Functional - Production & Facilities

· Conduct well reviews by summarizing downhole information and implementing a preventative maintenance plan for bottomhole equipment, such as bumper spring assemblies and bottom hole chokes, to reduce downtime and improve operational efficiency.

· Utilize modelling software to generate a working model of the pipeline gathering system to quickly be able to quantify production changes and guide future changes to the gathering system alongside new development.

· Develop and maintain an Operating Expense dashboard to track costs by area and category, using visual tools to compare actual expenses to the budget and identify potential cost-saving opportunities.

· Create and manage a Production Dashboard using Power BI and data from the production database, designing visual tools to facilitate real-time production monitoring and enhance decision-making.

· Analyze gas lift, tubing performance curves, and plunger lift well data to identify optimization opportunities, recommend adjustments, and implement solutions that improve well performance, increase production efficiency, and reduce operational costs.


Continuous Improvement & Innovation

· Analyze area competitor activity; benchmark industry best practices and emerging trends to identify improvement opportunities

· Identify opportunities for improvement in program execution.

· Collect and utilize existing data to analyze trends and identify process efficiencies within the team.

· Research new technology and it's potential use in Cygnet Energy’s assets.

· Apply lessons learned from previous well designs and operations into current project with support from the Team.

· Assist in project look backs and capture key learnings in the field, ensuring that they are shared between engineering and operations teams and that best practices are implemented in a timely manner.
