The Opportunity
Dig X is supporting a client in delivering a Data Management Foundation programme using Microsoft Fabric, OneLake and Power BI.
We are looking for a Power BI Developer who can help transform employee data into meaningful business insight. Working alongside Data Architects, Data Engineers and Business Analysts, you will design semantic models, define KPI layers and build business-facing dashboards that enable stakeholders to understand and make better use of their data.
This role would suit someone who enjoys working in greenfield environments, helping to establish reporting foundations and data products rather than simply maintaining existing reports.
What You'll Be Doing
- Design and develop Power BI semantic models and datasets.
- Create business-facing dashboards and reports aligned to stakeholder requirements.
- Work with Business Analysts and business stakeholders to define KPIs, measures and reporting requirements.
- Develop reusable reporting patterns and best practices.
- Validate calculations, measures and business rules against agreed definitions.
- Support user acceptance testing and business validation activities.
- Ensure reports are secure, scalable and easy to maintain.
- Work with Microsoft Fabric and OneLake data assets.
- Collaborate closely with Data Engineers on curated datasets and data quality improvements.
- Support documentation, handover and knowledge transfer activities.
The initial assignment focuses on employee data and workforce reporting, including the creation of a validated reporting solution built on Microsoft Fabric.
Experience Required
Essential
- Strong Power BI development experience.
- Advanced DAX and data modelling skills.
- Experience designing semantic models and KPI frameworks.
- Strong understanding of dimensional modelling and reporting best practices.
- Experience working closely with business stakeholders to translate requirements into reporting solutions.
- Ability to validate and reconcile data against business definitions.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable
- Microsoft Fabric experience.
- OneLake experience.
- Experience working alongside Data Engineers and Data Architects in modern data platforms.
- Understanding of data governance, data quality and data management principles.
- Experience delivering HR, workforce, people or employee analytics solutions.
- Experience within consulting or professional services environments.
