About the opportunity

We are working with a rapidly growing international technology company that develops specialist software and analytics solutions for organisations operating critical infrastructure.

The business works internationally on complex data, engineering and analytics projects, helping customers turn large volumes of operational data into practical insights that support important technical and business decisions.

They are now looking for a Lead Analytics Engineer to take ownership of advanced analytics, predictive modelling and AI/ML solutions across complex asset-focused projects.

The Role

This is a hands-on technical position combining analytics engineering, data science, mathematical modelling and AI/ML.

You will work with large and complex operational datasets, developing analytical models and helping turn them into practical solutions used by customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse project requirements and translate business and technical needs into analytical solutions
• Design, develop and optimise mathematical models, algorithms and predictive analytics
• Develop, validate and deploy AI/ML models using customer-specific datasets
• Work with large, complex and heterogeneous datasets from multiple sources
• Map and transform raw data into meaningful analytical inputs
• Develop asset health, predictive maintenance, risk and condition-monitoring models
• Analyse historical and real-time data to identify trends, patterns, KPIs and anomalies
• Build and configure dashboards, reports and analytical outputs
• Investigate equipment performance and operational data to support predictive insights
• Collaborate with software engineers, application specialists, project managers and product teams
• Translate analytical requirements into product improvements and new functionality
• Contribute to the ongoing development of analytics models, algorithms and technical capabilities
• Work directly with customers and end users to understand requirements and validate analytical solutions
• Present technical findings and model results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

What We're Looking For

• Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or a related technical discipline
• Professional experience in data analytics, data science, analytics engineering, mathematical modelling or a similar field
• Strong Python and SQL skills, with experience in an additional programming language such as C#
• Hands-on experience developing, validating and deploying ML/AI models
• Strong understanding of statistical analysis, predictive modelling and algorithms
• Experience working with large-scale operational or industrial datasets
• Experience with analytics and visualisation tools such as Power BI, MATLAB or similar
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Comfortable translating complex technical data into practical business or engineering recommendations
• Strong communication skills and confidence working with customers and stakeholders
• Experience working within structured project environments

Desirable

• Experience working with critical infrastructure, industrial assets, energy, utilities or other asset-intensive environments would be highly beneficial, but is not essential.
