Lead the performance and evolution of ASB’s Non-Retailcredit risk models

This is an influential senior manager opportunity within ASB’s Corporate Analytics team. You’ll lead the performance monitoring and strategic evolution of our non-retail IFRS9 and IRB credit risk models, ensuring they remain robust, fit for purpose and aligned with regulatory expectations and business objectives.

Your work will strengthen ASB’s risk measurement capability, support risk-informed decision-making and sustainable portfolio growth, and help maintain strong engagement with regulators and senior stakeholders.

Te tūranga | The role

You’ll be responsible for monitoring model performance, addressing findings and supporting the implementation of new Group IRB models across existing and future platforms.

Key Focus Areas Include

  • Leading model performance monitoring and fit-for-purpose assessments across a suite of corporate credit risk models
  • Driving regulatory change and model implementation initiatives
  • Improving and automating monitoring processes
  • Supporting the transition to Snowflake and Databricks platforms
  • Translating complex model outcomes into clear and actionable business insights
  • Analysing emerging trends and influencing strategic decision-making
  • Representing ASB on Group committees responsible for model governance, development and validation
  • Partnering across technology, data and business teams to improve model and data capability
  • Coaching and developing team members while fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture

You are an experienced credit risk professional who combines strong technical capability with leadership, commercial thinking and stakeholder influence.

You'll Bring

  • Proven experience developing and monitoring IRB and IFRS9 credit risk models
  • 7+ years' experience within credit risk management, analytics or reporting environments
  • 3+ years' people leadership experience
  • Knowledge of banking and APRA and/or RBNZ prudential requirements
  • Strong mathematical, statistical or quantitative skills
  • Experience analysing large datasets and delivering actionable insights
  • Advanced SAS and/or SQL skills
  • Exposure to Tableau and Power BI
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts
  • Strong relationship management skills and confidence engaging with senior stakeholders
