Position Summary
Welders need to be able to follow instruction and produce consistent, reliable, leak-tight quality welds. The Welder will set up components for welding according to specifications.
Primary Responsibilities
- Stages work for department as needed.
- Assists the Production Manager with job assignments as needed.
- Collaborate with Designers to develop quality control processes and ensure that the team follows established quality procedures.
- Monitors and controls production process within established specifications.
- Maintains constant communication with team members.
- Mentors and trains new employees.
- Coordinates production with other departments as needed.
- Works with management to improve production flow.
- Assists production welders in resolving work problems.
- Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, verify conformance to drawings and engineering specifications, and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents.
- Identify and reject nonconforming assemblies, parts, raw material, or components.
- Performs testing, observation, and inspection as directed in accordance with training and the specified procedures to determine if work is done according to CWB specifications and provide clear documentation of findings and results.
- Prepare inspection reports and document nonconformance.
- Follow safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects. Performs pre-task planning prior to executing work. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
- Identify and report any non-conformities or discrepancies and work with Production Manager develop corrective action plans
- Participate in investigations of quality issues and assist with root cause analysis
- Provide guidance and support to manufacturing personnel on quality-related matters
- Organize and prioritize tasks to meet production goals and ensure optimum efficiency
- Lead team of welders, always demonstrating the utmost professionalism
- Identify and promote continuous improvement opportunities across people, processes, and equipment.
- Maintain effective communication with all departments to achieve organizational targets
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Ensure compliance with all safety (OHSA), quality, and environmental programs.
- Perform other duties as required.
- HS Diploma/GED
- 5+ years in welding/metal fabrication
- 3+ years of experience in quality control preferred
- CWB preferred
- Basic construction knowledge preferred
- Ability to read drawings, decipher field reports, utilize excel
