We’re Hiring: Jr. Mortgage Underwriter

Location: Huntsville, Ontario

Position: Full-time

The SG Mortgage Team is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced Mortgage Underwriter to join our team.

This is an important role within our business. You’ll work closely with Samantha and our fulfillment team to structure mortgage applications, review documentation, prepare lender submissions, and help move each file smoothly from application to approval.

We’re looking for someone who is organized, confident, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple active mortgage files.

Just as importantly, we want someone who genuinely cares about providing clients with a clear and positive mortgage experience.

Key responsibilities:

• Review mortgage applications and supporting documents
• Analyze income, credit, down payment, debt servicing, and property details
• Identify missing information and documentation
• Structure files and recommend appropriate lender options
• Submit applications and communicate with lenders
• Review mortgage commitments and lender conditions
• Work closely with our fulfillment specialist to ensure conditions are satisfied
• Maintain a high standard of accuracy, compliance, confidentiality, and client care

The ideal candidate:

• Has previous mortgage underwriting, fulfillment, or lender experience
• Has strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Communicates clearly and professionally
• Is highly organized and able to prioritize competing deadlines
• Takes ownership of their files and follows through without constant direction
• Works well in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
• Is comfortable learning and using mortgage technology
• Holds an Ontario Mortgage Agent or Broker licence, or is willing to obtain one
