General Maintenance Trade Specialty - Permanent Full-Time (Multi-Site)

ROLE
- Perform general maintenance duties and trade-specific work in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and hospital policies.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain hospital systems, including
- Electrical (distribution, fixtures, devices, emergency power systems)
- HVAC (refrigeration, space cooling, equipment temperature control, humidity control)
- Carpentry (painting, cabinet repair, furniture repair and assembly)
- Plumbing (domestic water, sanitary and storm systems, medical vacuum/air support piping, fixtures, valves, pumps, and associated equipment)
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on critical building systems to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Monitor and respond to building system alarms and operational issues through the Building Automation System (BAS) or other monitoring systems.
- Participate in routine plant rounds to inspect mechanical spaces, identify deficiencies, and ensure equipment is functioning within normal operating parameters.
- Maintain and update maintenance records, preventative maintenance documentation, and work orders within the hospital’s maintenance management system.
- Assist with the installation, modification, and commissioning of mechanical equipment and systems as required.
- Support and collaborate with other maintenance trades (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general maintenance) to complete repairs and maintenance activities across the facility.
- Respond to maintenance service calls throughout the hospital in a timely manner, prioritizing urgent requests that may impact patient care, safety, or facility operations.
- Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
- Ontario Licensed Tradesperson in a trade as a Plumber, Electrician, Refrigeration and HVAC, etc. Other Ontario Trade Licences may be considered
- 5 years of recent demonstrated experience in Construction and Maintenance in an industrial / hospital setting
- High degree of computer literacy. (e.g., MS Office and email, computerized maintenance systems, using portable devices, and performing internet technical research)
- Valid Driver's License
- Experience with automation or networked systems (nurse call, parking) (preferred)
- Familiar with BAS (Building Automation System) (preferred)
- Staff referral program $1000 (for each successful permanent part-time and permanent full-time new hire you refer to MAHC)

- Enrolment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
Hours of Work: Must be available to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and standby. Scheduling and hours are subject to change based on departmental needs in accordance with the collective agreement. Employees assigned to standby shifts are required to remain within a 30-minute driving distance of the hospital.
