Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Sufficient care experience to demonstrate ability as an Ambulatory Staff RN (job specific). Previous experience in an ambulatory or outpatient setting preferred. Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems. Must demonstrate maturity in judgment, demonstrate organizational skills and the ability to adapt to changing environments, recognize and assist where help is needed.
EDUCATION: Graduate of accredited professional school of nursing. Nurses involved in the care of orthopedic and spine patients must adhere to defined educational and competency requirements in compliance with DNV Orthopedic and Spine certification. Nurses providing care to orthopedic and spine patients must complete specialty-specific education and validate competency annually. Nurses are expected to participate in continuing education activities relevant to orthopedic and spine care, including updates on clinical guidelines, emerging technologies, and best practices. Educational areas may include, but are not limited to:
- Musculoskeletal system anatomy and physiology
- ERAS
- Pain management strategies
- Mobility and safety
- Prevention of complications such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT), infection, and pressure injuries
- Glucose management
- Compartment syndrome
