Data Scientist

Job Title: Data Scientist – Junior Level | Football Innovation

Location: Herzogenaurach, Germany

Duration: 12-month contract

We are looking for a Junior Data Scientist to support an innovative Football Performance and Product Testing project. You will be responsible for collecting, processing, analysing and reporting athlete performance, physical and biomechanical data to help develop reliable and objective testing methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct onsite performance and football testing with amateur and semi-professional athletes.
• Collect data using advanced sports performance technologies, including timing gates, heart-rate monitors, IMUs, velocity sensors and other testing equipment.
• Analyse and post-process athlete performance and movement data using Python, MATLAB and Excel.
• Perform qualitative and quantitative biomechanical and performance analysis.
• Integrate athlete and tester feedback, including feedback related to different footwear conditions.
• Create clear testing protocols, documentation and instructions.
• Manage data uploads, reporting and communication of findings.
• Prepare regular reports and PowerPoint presentations for project stakeholders.
• Support the development of a reliable and valid testing framework for future football product innovation.

Required Skills

• Background in Data Science, Sports Science, Biomechanics, Human Movement Science or a related field.
• Knowledge of Python, MATLAB and/or Excel for data analysis.
• Interest or experience in sports performance, biomechanics and athlete testing.
• Ability to independently conduct tests and work with athletes in an onsite environment.
• Strong analytical, documentation and communication skills.
