As the Workshop Supervisor, you will sit between our Regional Maintenance Manager and our Leading Hands, acting as a key enforcer of standards and a mentor to our workforce. We are looking for a leader who is not afraid to get their hands dirty, hold the team accountable, and drive a culture of transparency and high performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership: Manage daily workshop operations, ensuring all maintenance, servicing, and repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
- Performance Management: Actively supervise and mentor the team, including Leading Hands. Set clear expectations, hold staff accountable for their output, and address performance issues immediately.
- Transparency & Reporting: Ensure 100% accuracy and transparency in reporting. You will be responsible for ensuring all breakdowns and maintenance tasks are logged correctly and communicated in real time.
- Efficiency Optimisation: Monitor labour allocation and workshop flow. Identify bottlenecks, eliminate inefficiencies, and ensure resources are utilised effectively to meet production targets.
- Standards Enforcement: Enforce company policies, including safety protocols, PPE requirements, and professional conduct (e.g., mobile phone usage).
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Regional Maintenance Manager to implement strategies, manage labour costs, and support the long-term success of the Port Hedland workshop.
- Qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic: Experience with Kenworths/Cummins Engines highly desirable!
- Proven Experience: Demonstrated experience in a supervisory role within a trucking or mining maintenance environment.
- Hands-On Approach: You lead by example. You are comfortable working on the floor, demonstrating techniques, and engaging directly with the team.
- Accountability: You have a strong track record of holding team members to high standards and are comfortable having difficult conversations to drive performance.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide clear instructions and maintain transparent reporting lines.
- Problem Solver: Ability to identify patterns in equipment failure and implement proactive solutions to prevent recurring issues.
