About the Role

Vertex Energy GmbH is seeking a Senior Technical Engineer (PV/BESS) to support utility-scale renewable energy projects across Europe.

This role focuses on owner-side technical engineering throughout project acquisition, technical due diligence, EPC coordination, grid connection, permitting, construction readiness and commissioning.

You will work closely with internal investment, finance and legal teams as well as EPC contractors, technical consultants, suppliers, lenders and grid operators.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Due Diligence

• Support technical due diligence for utility-scale PV, BESS and grid connection projects
• Review technical documentation and identify project risks
• Manage TDD documentation, consultant requests and action trackers
• Prepare technical summaries for management and investment committees

Engineering Review

• Review PV layouts, BESS designs, SLDs, datasheets and technical specifications
• Identify design inconsistencies and EPC technical risks
• Support technical evaluations and engineering comments

Grid Connection & Permitting

• Coordinate with TSO/DSO, consultants and local authorities
• Monitor permitting status and grid connection progress
• Track commissioning and COD-related technical requirements

EPC & Supplier Coordination

• Support EPC package reviews and technical documentation
• Coordinate deliverables from EPC contractors and suppliers
• Review equipment documentation, FAT/SAT reports and warranties
• Monitor construction readiness and project schedules

Site Support

• Participate in site visits and technical inspections
• Support QA/QC activities and commissioning readiness
• Track punch lists, handover documentation and project close-out

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Renewable Energy or related engineering discipline
• 5+ years of experience in utility-scale PV, BESS, grid connection, EPC, Owner's Engineer or renewable energy engineering
• Experience reviewing engineering drawings, SLDs and technical specifications
• Good understanding of MV/HV grid connection and European grid requirements
• Strong project coordination and documentation skills
• Professional English communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with European PV and BESS projects
• Knowledge of BESS technologies (PCS, EMS, SCADA, BMS)
• Experience working with EPC contractors, consultants and lenders
• Familiarity with technical due diligence and project bankability
• Additional European language is an advantage
• Chinese language skills are a plus
