Position Title: Power Platform QA / Test & Accessibility Lead

Location: Remote – preferably Washington State

Travel: Occasional travel to Olympia, WA, as required by the project

Position Summary

accel bi corporation is seeking an experienced Power Platform QA / Test & Accessibility Lead to lead quality assurance, testing, financial-model validation, and accessibility testing for a financial forecasting modernization initiative.

The successful candidate will establish and execute a comprehensive testing strategy across Microsoft Power Platform, Power Apps, Dataverse, Power Automate, Power BI, data integrations, forecasting calculations, security controls, and end-to-end business processes.

A critical responsibility of this position will be validating the modernized forecasting solution against the existing Excel-based predictive model. The QA/Test Lead will work closely with business SMEs, developers, architects, and data specialists to verify that migrated business rules and financial calculations produce accurate, traceable, and reliable results before production deployment.

Key Responsibilities

Test Planning and Quality Management

• Develop and maintain the overall project Test Strategy and Test Plan.
• Define testing standards, processes, entry/exit criteria, and acceptance criteria.
• Develop detailed test cases and test scenarios based on functional and technical requirements.
• Establish requirements-to-test traceability through a Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM).
• Coordinate testing activities across development, integration, reporting, security, accessibility, and business teams.
• Maintain test evidence and quality-assurance documentation.
• Provide regular testing status, defect metrics, risks, and readiness reporting to project management.

Power Platform Functional Testing

• Test Microsoft Power Apps functionality, forms, controls, validations, navigation, and business workflows.
• Validate Dataverse tables, relationships, security roles, data integrity, and audit capabilities.
• Test Power Automate workflows, triggers, notifications, exception handling, and processing status.
• Validate Power BI dashboards, reports, filters, drill-downs, calculations, and user interactions.
• Perform end-to-end testing across Power Apps, Dataverse, Power Automate, Power BI, SharePoint Online, and supporting data processes.

Data Integration & Data Quality Testing

• Validate automated data-ingestion and transformation processes.
• Test Power BI Dataflows and Power Query transformations.
• Verify source-to-target data mappings.
• Validate data cleansing, standardization, transformation, joining, and enrichment logic.
• Perform record-count, control-total, and financial reconciliation.
• Test missing-data, duplicate-data, invalid-data, and schema-change scenarios.
• Verify exception handling, error logging, refresh monitoring, and recovery procedures.
• Confirm that curated datasets accurately represent approved source data.

Forecasting & Financial Model Validation

• Develop test cases for revenue, expenditure, cash-balance, burn-rate, repayment, amortization, and related forecasting calculations.
• Validate scenario creation, assumptions, versioning, and scenario comparisons.
• Verify that forecast assumptions are applied consistently across calculations and reports.
• Validate historical, baseline, and alternative forecast scenarios.
• Perform financial reconciliation between source data, analytical calculations, and reported outputs.
• Identify and document calculation discrepancies and work with development and business teams to determine root causes.

Excel-to-Power Platform Parallel Validation

• Lead parallel testing between the existing Excel-based forecasting model and the modernized solution.
• Execute both models using equivalent source data, assumptions, parameters, and forecast periods.
• Compare revenue, expenditure, repayment, burn rate, cash balance, amortization, and scenario outputs.
• Document calculation variances and establish traceability to underlying formulas and business rules.
• Coordinate investigation and resolution of material differences.
• Perform regression testing following corrections.
• Maintain evidence demonstrating that migrated forecasting logic has been appropriately validated.
• Coordinate business SME review and acceptance of forecast results.

Integration and System Testing

• Conduct end-to-end system testing across all solution components.
• Validate interfaces and data movement between systems.
• Test scheduled and event-driven refresh processes.
• Verify workflow sequencing and downstream recalculation.
• Test exception and recovery scenarios.
• Confirm that the integrated solution supports the complete forecasting lifecycle.

Security Testing

• Validate Microsoft Entra ID authentication integration.
• Test role-based access controls and least privilege permissions.
• Verify authorized and unauthorized access scenarios.
• Validate segregation of duties where applicable.
• Test Dataverse security roles and application permissions.
• Verify audit logging and traceability of critical business activities.
• Coordinate remediation and retesting of identified security issues.

Accessibility Testing

• Incorporate accessibility validation throughout the testing lifecycle.
• Test Power Apps and reporting interfaces against applicable WCAG Level AA and Washington State accessibility requirements.
• Validate keyboard navigation, focus order, labels, alternative text, contrast, screen-reader compatibility, and other applicable accessibility requirements.
• Document accessibility findings and coordinate remediation with development teams.
• Retest remediated accessibility defects.
• Maintain evidence of accessibility testing and results.

Performance Testing

• Validate application responsiveness under expected usage conditions.
• Test data-refresh and transformation performance.
• Evaluate Power BI semantic model and report performance.
• Validate scenario calculation and comparison response times.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and coordinate optimization activities.
• Perform regression testing after performance-related changes.

User Acceptance Testing

• Develop UAT plans, scenarios, scripts, and expected results.
• Coordinate UAT preparation with project management and business SMEs.
• Prepare representative business scenarios covering the forecasting lifecycle.
• Support business users during UAT execution.
• Record and classify UAT findings.
• Coordinate defect resolution and retesting.
• Track UAT progress and readiness.
• Support formal business acceptance and production-readiness decisions.

Defect Management

• Establish and manage the project defect-management process.
• Document defects with clear reproduction steps, expected results, actual results, severity, and supporting evidence.
• Facilitate defect triage with developers, architects, and business SMEs.
• Track defects through resolution.
• Perform confirmation and regression testing.
• Monitor critical and high-priority defects through closure.
• Provide defect metrics and quality-status reporting to project leadership.

Deployment and Hypercare Support

• Participate in production-readiness reviews.
• Validate production deployment and configuration.
• Conduct post-deployment smoke testing.
• Verify critical workflows, integrations, reports, and forecast calculations following deployment.
• Support defect triage during the post-go-live hypercare period.
• Assist with root-cause analysis of production issues.
• Maintain regression tests for critical business functionality.
• Support transition of testing knowledge and procedures to the operational support team.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software quality assurance and testing experience.
• Experience testing Microsoft Power Platform solutions.
• Hands-on experience testing Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, and Power BI.
• Strong experience with system, integration, regression, and User Acceptance Testing.
• Strong data-validation, reconciliation, and source-to-target testing experience.
• Experience testing complex calculations, financial applications, forecasting solutions, or data-intensive applications.
• Experience creating Test Strategies, Test Plans, test scenarios, test cases, defect reports, and test-completion reports.
• Experience developing and maintaining Requirements Traceability Matrices.
• Strong understanding of defect-management and regression-testing processes.
• Experience coordinating UAT with business users and SMEs.
• Understanding of role-based access and application security testing.
• Knowledge of web and application accessibility testing.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause-analysis skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with technical teams and business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience testing financial forecasting, budgeting, accounting, lending, or predictive-modeling applications.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience validating complex Excel formulas and models.
• Experience migrating or validating Excel-based applications against modernized systems.
• Experience with Power BI/DAX calculation validation.
• Experience with Power Query and data-transformation testing.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.1/2.2 Level AA accessibility testing.
• Experience supporting Washington State or other state/local government technology projects.
• Familiarity with public-sector security and accessibility requirements.
• Experience using Azure DevOps or comparable test-case and defect-management tools.
• Experience with automated testing tools and frameworks.
• Microsoft Power Platform, Power BI, testing, or accessibility certifications are desirable.
