Pay Rate: $27.57–$35.84/hour


Make an Impact Through Your Expertise


Help shape coding accuracy, documentation quality, and revenue integrity across Lee Health. As a Medical Coding Education Specialist, you'll use your coding expertise to educate providers, coders, and leaders on complex coding and documentation requirements. You'll translate regulatory guidance, audit findings, and coding updates into practical education that supports compliant, accurate, and effective healthcare operations.


What You’ll Do

  • Conduct educational coding audits and identify opportunities to improve coding accuracy and documentation.
  • Develop and deliver education for physicians, APPs, coders, practice managers, directors, and other leaders.
  • Translate complex CMS, AMA, OIG, FCSO, and other regulatory guidance into clear, practical education.
  • Create presentations, on-demand videos, tip sheets, coding alerts, newsletters, and other educational resources.
  • Educate stakeholders on ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, E/M guidelines, outpatient coding, and documentation requirements.
  • Research regulatory updates and communicate their impact to providers and leadership.
  • Partner with Revenue Integrity, Coding, Accounts Receivable, Compliance, and Information Systems teams.
  • Collaborate with Epic and Information Systems teams on documentation enhancements and workflow improvements.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted resource for coding, documentation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Adapt priorities and educational strategies to meet changing organizational and operational needs.


What You’ll Need

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional coding experience.
  • CPC certification required.
  • CPMA certification required within two years of hire.
  • Extensive knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, outpatient coding, E/M guidelines, and documentation standards.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to translate complex technical and regulatory information into clear, understandable education.
  • Ability to effectively present information to providers, coders, and various levels of leadership.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.


What Will Set You Apart

  • Associate or bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in coding education, auditing, training, or leadership.
  • Experience developing educational materials and presentations.
  • Experience presenting to physicians, APPs, or healthcare leadership.
  • Experience with Epic.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
