About The Role

Join a dedicated team delivering culturally safe, community-centred healthcare while leading innovative skin health programs that create positive and lasting outcomes across the Gulf region.

  • Lead and support skin health screening, test-and-treat programs, and health promotion initiatives across communities.
  • Deliver culturally responsive primary healthcare services, including health assessments, client education, immunisation support, and care planning.
  • Build strong relationships with communities, providing expert cultural advice and fostering community engagement.

Working with us

  • For 1 year will get you an isolation bonus of AUD$3,695. If you stay for 2 years you will get AUD$11,085… and for your 3rd year (and every year after that) you will get AUD$7,390 (pro rata for part time employees).
  • In your downtime , we will provide 2 return airfares p.a. (full time employees) (inc. spouse/dependents) or 1 return airfare p.a. (part time employees) to the nearest east coast provincial city in conjunction with your Recreation leave.
  • New Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioners to Queensland Health may be eligible for an Incentive payment of up to $5,000 after 12 months (pro rata for part time employees).

Requirements

  • Holds current registration as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner as recognised by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner Board of Australia (ATSIHPBA).
  • Successfully completed a Certificate IV Aboriginal Torres Strat Islander Primary Health Care (Practice) or Diploma in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health.
  • Any successful applicant who does not hold the Diploma in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care but holds current registration as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner as recognised by the ATSIHPBA will be appointed for a fixed term, subject to engaging and participating in a learning agreement to obtain the required qualification(s) with essential level support under HR Policy G10 Study and Research Assistance Scheme (SARAS)
  • To perform this role, it is essential that the person who holds the position be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 that applicants are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders.
  • Potential applicants are advised that the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Act 2000 requires Queensland Health to seek a ‘working with children check, from the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian prior to appointment to this position.
  • C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
  • Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks.
  • This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
  • A period of probation may apply.
