Job Description

As Global Nature Strategy Coordinator & TIP SAM Co-Lead (m/f/diverse), you will drive the development and implementation of Continental's global nature strategy while advancing sustainability assessment methodologies across the tire industry. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will integrate biodiversity, water, pollution, and life cycle assessment considerations into business decisions, sustainability programs, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and continuously advance Continental's global nature strategy, including biodiversity and water-related topics, and ensure alignment with relevant regulations and frameworks such as CSRD, ESRS, CSDDD, TNFD, and SBTN.
  • Drive the integration of nature-related objectives into business strategies, decision-making processes, and operational activities by coordinating cross-functional collaboration across Sustainability, Purchasing, R&D, Manufacturing, and Technology Engineering.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Product Carbon Footprints (PCF), greenhouse gas accounting, and environmental impact assessments, supporting sustainability reporting, product evaluations, and strategic initiatives.
  • Act as Co-Lead of the Sustainability Assessment Methodology (SAM) workstream within the Tire Industry Project (TIP), helping to shape the agenda, guide discussions, align industry stakeholders, and drive the development of common sustainability assessment approaches and standards while safeguarding sensitive company information
  • Represent Continental in industry associations, customer and supplier engagements, and external initiatives such as TIP and WBCSD, contributing to the development of industry standards, sustainability assessment methods, and regulatory topics including ESPR
  • Support the implementation of sustainable value chain and supplier strategies, including the assessment of environmental impacts and sustainable material alternatives.
  • Monitor progress against strategic targets and prepare management reports, presentations, and decision-making materials to support executive leadership and long-term value creation.

Qualifications

  • Academic degree in Environmental Sciences, Natural Sciences, Engineering, Sustainability Management, Business Administration, or a comparable qualification
  • Professional experience in sustainability, environmental management, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), greenhouse gas accounting, or related disciplines, including hands-on experience with LCA software and environmental assessment methodologies
  • Strong knowledge of biodiversity, water stewardship, climate impact assessment, and nature-related frameworks such as TNFD and SBTN
  • Expertise in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Product Carbon Footprints (PCF), greenhouse gas accounting, environmental impact assessments, and relevant standards including GHG Protocol, SBTi, ISO 14040/14044, and ISO 14067
  • Sound understanding of sustainability regulations and reporting requirements, particularly CSRD, ESRS, and related legislative frameworks
  • Strong project management, stakeholder management, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to drive alignment and decision-making in a global matrix organization
  • Fluent English language skills; German is an advantage
