Summary
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a IT SPECIALIST (CUSTSPT)-TITLLE 32, Position Description Number PDD2526P02 and is part of the KY G6, National Guard.
Duties
- As a IT SPECIALIST (CUSTSPT)-TITLLE 32, GS-2210-11, you will install, configure, troubleshoot, and provide maintenance and training in response to customer requirements or inquiries. Provide incident information to the Incident Response (IR) Specialty. Provide Tier II support for end-user hardware failures. Re-image customer workstations and resolve complex problems. Detect damaged or lost files, optimize disk management, measure system performance, control system security, and extend system capabilities to support local requirements. Troubleshoot and repair IT systems and related components. Notify team leader of any significant trends in hardware/software implementation issues and any potential problems. Coordinate support actions with user, other IT personnel, and higher levels. Evaluate IT hardware and software used by activities. Install, test, and prepare performance reports and recommendations on equipment. Work with users to test and evaluate software packages. Provide support and guidance on installing, and operating personal computers, peripheral equipment, and associated software. Support users with custom installation and maintenance of hardware and software. Document actions taken in the current work ticket tracking system and serve as a point of information for workstation operations. Receive, respond to, and ensure resolution of help center calls. Receive requests for resolution of hardware or software problems that may require in-depth research. Coordinate external vendor support for warranty repairs when applicable and ensure proper escort assigned while work is performed. Maintain awareness of current trends in information technology. Update hardware and software architecture databases to reflect installations, turn-ins, and changes in reportable software. Work directly with Property Book Officers to ensure assigned and transitional property is accounted for. Perform cyclic inventories as required by the Command Supply Discipline Program. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENT: Experience that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems. Must have Security+ Certification. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months experience assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls. Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment. Experience with analysis and design techniques to develop system software modifications, systems administration policy, and procedures for use across the organization. Experience using software technology and related computer equipment to perform studies and to evaluate system changes. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Resume must have complete dates (Example 2 JAN 1980 to 3 MAR 1981 or JAN 1980 to MAR 1981), work schedule, and hours worked per week of employment. Education
Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience: To qualify for GS-2210 Title 32 Excepted Service positions, on the basis of completed graduate education listed below. Ph.D. or equivalent -OR- 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree All undergraduate or graduate education must be in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. To receive credit for education, you must provide OFFICIAL transcripts.
Requirements
Military Grades: E4 (SPC) - O2 (1LT) CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: You must maintain membership in the Kentucky National Guard. You must be assigned to a compatible military position. Wear of the military uniform. May be subject to furlough actions. May be required to successfully complete a trial period. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Must maintain a favorable adjudication of a T3 or equivalent investigation. Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate a military bonus. Acceptance of a Federal position will terminate Tricare Reserve Select (TRS) eligibility. This position is located on a tobacco free facility. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. Incumbent must complete appropriate training and obtain required certifications IAW DoDI 8140 or DOD 8570.01M or applicable governing document(s) for Cyber workforce as an IA Technician Level II within 9 months of employment pending training seat availability. This position conducts information assurance functions. The incumbent shall comply with the requirements of the certification program and will be required to obtain and maintain certification. Certification requirements are outlined in DOD instruction 8570.01-M. Position is designated as OM-STS-001 within the Defense Cybersecurity Workforce as guided by NIST SP 800-181, National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education, Cybersecurity Workforce Framework.
