We are seeking a highly skilled Senior UPS Field Service Engineer to support commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency response activities for mission-critical power systems. This is a home-based role with regional travel to customer sites supporting data centers, healthcare facilities, industrial operations, telecommunications infrastructure, and other critical environments.

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated technical professional with extensive experience servicing UPS systems and related critical power equipment. This position offers the opportunity to work independently while serving as a trusted advisor to customers who rely on uninterrupted power for their operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commission, start up, test, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain UPS systems and related critical power equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance services to maximize system reliability and performance.
  • Respond to emergency service calls and provide technical support during critical power events.
  • Conduct operational testing and system verification for new installations and upgrades.
  • Perform commissioning-focused design reviews and prepare testing procedures and commissioning reports.
  • Coordinate and oversee on-site testing activities.
  • Troubleshoot complex power system issues and identify root causes down to the component level.
  • Collaborate with engineering and technical support teams to resolve operational and maintenance challenges.
  • Develop and execute Methods of Procedure (MOPs) and provide recommendations for equipment improvements.
  • Complete detailed field service reports accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Attend technical training programs to maintain expertise in current and evolving technologies.
  • Serve as a trusted technical resource for customers by providing proactive recommendations that improve system reliability and uptime.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in the critical power, electrical service, or power electronics industry.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and repair equipment at the component level.
  • Experience with:
    • Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems
    • Battery systems
    • Power Distribution Units (PDUs)
    • Static Transfer Switches (STS)
    • Related mission-critical power infrastructure
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong understanding of electrical schematics, control systems, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Experience using electrical test equipment and hand tools.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and field service reporting tools.
  • Ability to provide technical recommendations and solutions to customers.
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and emergency call-outs as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with third-party service organizations supporting critical power systems.
  • Factory training or field experience on major UPS product lines.
  • Technical degree or formal technical training.
  • Military technical, electrical, electronics, or power generation experience.
  • Experience supporting data centers or other high-availability environments.

Education & Experience

One of the following qualifications is required:

  • Associate degree or graduate of an accredited technical program in Electrical Technology, Electronics Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.

OR

  • 3+ years of relevant field service experience in power electronics, electrical systems, or critical power applications.
