Position overview
Reporting to the Site Controller, the Senior Cost Controller is responsible for the daily activities in the areas of Controlling & Reporting, Financial Planning, and Cost Accounting for the production sites in Lindau and France. They are accountable for the balance sheet and P&L of four associated brand divisions. The role focuses on conducting analyses to improve profitability, explaining variances between planned and actual figures, and overseeing the planning processes for both sites. Additionally, the position involves preparing decision‑making materials for management. The Senior Cost Controller actively contributes to continuous improvement initiatives and handles ad‑hoc tasks for the Site Controller.
Responsibilities
- Responsibility for the balance sheet and P&L of all four associated brand divisions
- Preparation of analyses and execution of profitability calculations for the Site Controller in Lindau and the management team
- Support of business planning and forecasting for the sites in Lindau and France
- Preparation of reports as part of the reporting process (monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements) as well as performing controls within the internal control system
- Controlling of production orders and analysis of variances
- Controlling of investment projects and preparation of investment proposals, including analyses for make‑or‑buy decisions
- Active support of production through production controlling and productivity analyses
- Calculation and maintenance of standard costs, as well as pre‑ and post‑calculations for product modifications and new product introductions in collaboration with Inside Sales, Engineering and Purchasing
- Continuous development of controlling processes and active participation in continuous improvement initiatives
- Point of contact for all cost‑related inquiries
- Training of apprentices and of the Junior Cost Controller
Qualifications
Education and Training
- Degree in Business Administration with a focus on Controlling, or a comparable qualification.
Experience
- Several years of experience in Controlling / Cost Accounting.
- Supervisory experience a plus.
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong affinity for IT
- Very good MS Office skills, especially Microsoft Excel
- Experience working with a modern ERP system (QAD, SAP)
- Experience with Hyperion Financial Management is an advantage
- Very good English & German Language skills, both written and spoken
