This position serves as a key subject matter expert within the organization, partnering with compliance, lending, operations, and third-party vendors to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, investor guidelines, and industry best practices.

This is an excellent opportunity for a mortgage quality control professional who enjoys program ownership, cross-functional collaboration, and driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the organization's residential mortgage quality control program and monthly review schedule.
  • Coordinate and serve as the primary liaison with third-party QC vendors.
  • Review, analyze, and validate quality control findings and identify trends, root causes, and potential areas of risk.
  • Partner with business leaders to evaluate findings, implement corrective actions, and improve processes.
  • Monitor evolving regulatory requirements and investor guidelines impacting mortgage operations.
  • Develop reporting and presentations for management related to quality control results, trends, and risk assessments.
  • Support broader risk and compliance initiatives, including regulatory reporting and monitoring activities.
  • Participate in vendor oversight, control testing, and business continuity efforts as needed.
  • Recommend process improvements that strengthen controls, mitigate risk, and enhance operational effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in residential mortgage quality control, mortgage compliance, underwriting, audit, or a related function.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage loan processing, underwriting, closing, and servicing activities.
  • Knowledge of agency and investor requirements, including FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, and related guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of applicable mortgage regulations, including HMDA, RESPA, TILA, ECOA, Fair Lending, and other federal and state requirements.
  • Ability to independently analyze findings and exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Experience working with third-party review vendors, auditors, or regulatory entities preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; relevant industry certifications are a plus.

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will bring deep mortgage QC expertise and the ability to serve as a trusted advisor to leadership. This individual should be comfortable navigating complex regulatory environments, managing competing priorities, and collaborating with stakeholders across multiple departments. Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to handle constructive discussions around audit and QC findings are essential.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • High-visibility role with ownership of a critical risk management function.
  • Opportunity to influence processes and drive program improvements.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented culture.
  • Stable organization with a strong reputation and long-term growth strategy.
