Senior Risk Manager

What you will do

As a Risk Manager at Klarna, you will be part of the second-line Risk Control team responsible for setting risk frameworks and overseeing risk management across our global operations. You will focus on capital management and business strategy, ensuring Klarna's capital positions align with regulatory requirements and reflect the firm's current and future risk profile. In this position, you will review and challenge securitization practices — both synthetic and traditional — ensuring they meet internal policy standards, regulatory expectations, and best-in-class risk management approaches. You will also review and validate Klarna's capital and liquidity assessment processes, recovery planning approaches, and business forecasting models to ensure alignment with our risk appetite and strategic goals. Through the development of risk opinions, assurance reviews, and regular engagement with senior executives, you will play a meaningful part in shaping sound risk decision-making across the organization.

Who you are

• You have solid knowledge of capital management and how capital requirements apply to regulated financial institutions.
• You have experience working in a UK or EU bank, with a strong understanding of banking regulations and supervisory expectations.
• You hold a degree from a university in a numerate subject such as Economics, Science, Engineering, or Business.
• You bring strong attention to detail and apply structured approaches to problem solving.
• You are driven and ambitious, with strong conceptual ability and a desire to go beyond the obvious.
• You are comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders and can articulate complex risk topics clearly and confidently.

Awesome to have

• Experience with securitization practices, including synthetic and traditional structures.
• Familiarity with capital and liquidity assessment processes and recovery planning frameworks.
• Experience using generative AI tools in a professional setting.
• Proficiency in both written and verbal English at a working or advanced level.
