Our challenge

We are seeking an experienced L2/L3 Application/Production Support Engineer to support business-critical reconciliation and post-trade applications within a Banking, Capital Markets, or Investment Banking environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for production monitoring, incident resolution, root cause analysis, application stability, batch operations, release support, and coordination with L3 Support, Development, Infrastructure, and Business teams. This role requires strong technical troubleshooting skills, excellent stakeholder communication, and the ability to operate effectively in a 24x7 production support environment.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Halifax, NS is CAD $95K - CAD $115K/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

5–8+ years of experience in L2 Application Support or Production Support.

Experience supporting applications within Banking, Capital Markets, Investment Banking, or Financial Servicesenvironments.

Experience supporting reconciliation, post-trade, settlement, or other business-critical financial applications.

Provide L2 production support for reconciliation, post-trade, settlement, and related financial applications.

Monitor application health, system performance, interfaces, batch jobs, and scheduled processes.

Investigate, triage, and resolve production incidents and service requests within defined SLAs.

Perform detailed troubleshooting, impact assessment, and incident escalation where required.

Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and contribute to problem management activities.

Support production releases, application changes, configuration updates, and change requests.

Monitor and manage batch processing, interfaces, file transfers, and scheduled jobs.

Perform application health checks and proactively identify potential production issues.

Work closely with L3 Support, Development, Infrastructure, Database, DevOps, and Business teams to ensure platform stability.

Support operational readiness activities, deployment validation, and post-release verification.

Maintain accurate incident records, support documentation, knowledge articles, and operational procedures.

Participate in 24x7 production support and on-call rotations as required.

Identify opportunities to improve support processes, automate repetitive activities, and reduce recurring incidents.

Ensure compliance with incident, problem, change, and release management processes.

Requirements:

Experience

• 5–8+ years in L3 Application/Production Support within Banking, Capital Markets, or Investment Banking environments.
• Strong experience with Unix/Linux administration and troubleshooting.
• Strong SQL skills using one or more databases, such as:
• Oracle
• Microsoft SQL Server
• MySQL
• PostgreSQL
• Ability to use SQL for production issue analysis, data validation, reconciliation checks, and troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting reconciliation, post-trade, settlement, capital markets, or investment banking applications.
• Good understanding of ITIL processes, including:
• Incident Management
• Problem Management
• Change Management
• Service Request Management
• Experience with application and infrastructure monitoring tools, such as:
• Splunk
• Dynatrace
• AppDynamics
• Grafana
• Kibana
• Similar monitoring and observability platforms
• Experience with Shell scripting for operational support, troubleshooting, and automation.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with technical teams, business users, vendors, and senior stakeholders.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple production issues in a time-sensitive environment.

Preferred skills:

Experience with IntelliMatch or other reconciliation platforms.

Previous experience in Capital Markets or Investment Banking.

Knowledge of production release and deployment processes.

Experience with batch scheduling tools such as:

• Autosys
• Control-M
• Similar enterprise scheduling platforms

Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD, and automated deployment processes.

Experience with application support in a high-availability, business-critical, 24x7 environment.

Familiarity with settlement, trade lifecycle, reconciliations, corporate actions, or post-trade processing.

Knowledge of IT service management tools such as ServiceNow or equivalent platforms.
