About Covet Health
Covet Health is a modern, API-first TPA and benefits provider. We leverage technology and data-driven care pathways to improve healthcare delivery for employers and members. We prioritize transparency and precision in claims administration. We are seeking individuals who value operational excellence and innovation to join our growing team.
We are looking for a QA Engineer to join Covet Health. Our team is dedicated to building healthcare solutions that envision a more accessible and affordable healthcare system. The ideal candidate is a proactive individual who can handle multiple tasks effectively and collaborate well with a team. This individual will get to play a critical role in the product vision, quality strategy, and reliability of the company's offerings.
You will be a lead QA engineer responsible for the overall quality assurance strategy, creating automated testing frameworks from scratch, and working with existing engineers to ensure seamless, bug-free deployments. You should excel in testing large-scale applications, have outstanding communication skills, and enjoy learning new technologies/methods.
Role and Responsibilities
- Key Role: As an early part of the engineering team, you will contribute significantly to setting the QA direction, establishing testing standards, and building the automated testing foundation.
- Collaboration with Leadership: Work closely with the CTO, product managers, and developers to establish quality benchmarks for both customer-facing products and internal applications.
- Innovation in Healthcare: Leverage your expertise to address major challenges in healthcare software reliability, supporting the entire development lifecycle by catching regressions and ensuring a flawless user experience.
- Development of Core Products: Support the quality of Covet Health's core infrastructure serving all of our stakeholders including providers, brokers, members, and employers. This will include testing mobile apps (iOS/Android) and web applications.
- Testing Quality: Design, write, and maintain robust, high-quality automated test scripts (E2E, integration, API, and UI) adhering to industry best practices.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with various teams to ensure features match business specifications, user acceptance criteria, and compliance standards before release.
- Product Support: Actively manage bug tracking, triage issues, and assist engineers in troubleshooting, with an ongoing commitment to overall software quality and user experience.
- Peer Review: Actively engage in code reviews for test automation scripts and participate in design discussions to ensure testability is built into features from day one.
- Security Mindset: You are careful with data and understand or are willing to learn HIPAA constraints. You prioritize testing systems for security vulnerabilities and ensuring that test data processes strictly protect PHI and other sensitive data.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience: 2+ years of full-time QA engineering experience, focusing on both manual and automated testing, or equivalent experience demonstrating the ability to manage complex QA lifecycles.
- Education: B.S. degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline, or demonstrable relevant experience.
- Adaptability: Willingness and ability to learn new skills and techniques. We value diverse experiences and curiosity.
- Mobile & Web Automation: Experience building automation frameworks for mobile apps (e.g., Appium, Flutter Integration Tests) and modern web applications (e.g., Cypress, Playwright, Selenium).
- API Testing: Strong experience testing backend services and APIs (REST, GraphQL) using tools like Postman, automated scripts, or backend testing frameworks.
- CI/CD Integration: Experience integrating automated test suites into continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines (e.g., Bitbucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions, GitLab).
- Databases: Familiarity with querying databases (SQL/noSQL) to validate data integrity and set up test environments.
- Architecture Understanding: Basic understanding of application architectures (Monolith vs. microservice) and environment management tools (e.g., Docker) to assist in spun-up test environments.
- Cyber Security: Understanding of basic security testing concepts (e.g., OWASP Top 10) or willingness to learn cyber security validation during QA.
Note: While we list these preferred qualifications, we recognize that few people have experience in every area listed. If you have expertise in some of the areas and a willingness to learn in others, we encourage you to apply. Since our team is small, you will have an opportunity to make an impact at every level of the technology stack, and we are committed to supporting your professional growth in areas that are new to you.
Covet Health is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
