Senior Technical Designer
Indexed description
We are hiring: Technical Designer – Global Brands (Bilingual)
Location: Guangzhou, China.
Team: Overseas Quality & Technical Team
Contact info. for this role: [email protected]
About the Role
This is not a conventional QC or technician role.
We're looking for a passionate garment technician who wants to break out of single-category, single-brand routines and step into something bigger. You'll work directly with multiple overseas brands as a true technical partner — not just intercepting problems, but shaping how each brand's quality story is told, from first sample to loyal customer.
What Makes This Role Different
Multi-category mastery — Instead of being boxed into one category, you'll work across knitwear, woven, activewear, swimwear and more. Broader exposure, faster learning, a more versatile you.
Brand builder, not just reviewer — You'll help define each brand's unique fit language and quality DNA, rather than applying a one-size-fits-all checklist.
Ground-floor creation — You'll help build the assets that make this model scalable: bilingual technical glossaries, brand-specific fit libraries, and a new playbook for remote quality partnership.
What You'll Do
Technical Communication
(Spoken and Written English))
Lead live review meetings and write structured technical reports directly in English — covering fit, construction, and fabric — so nothing gets lost in translation.
Multi-Category Fit Review
Conduct end-to-end technical assessments across ≥2 product categories, identify risks early, and deliver prioritized, solution-oriented revision guidance.
New Brand Onboarding
Rapidly internalize each brand's aesthetic language and quality expectations; co-create tailored technical guidelines that protect their identity.
Technical Asset Building
Contribute to a growing bilingual terminology database, brand-specific fit standards, and a knowledge repository that becomes the team's backbone.
Trusted Partnership
Build a tight tripartite working rhythm with merchandisers and buyers, earning trust through consistent, transparent, and solution-driven technical output.
Who we are looking for?
Must-Have
English as your working language — you independently write technical review comments and confidently participate in English-language sample fittings and quality review meetings.
5+ years in garment technical roles (Technician, QA, Technical Designer), with 3+ years working across global brands/trading companies.
Multi-category proficiency — comfortable across ≥2 product categories; knitwear, activewear, or swimwear experience is a strong plus.
Technical depth — you assess fit, construction, and fabric compatibility with authority, and you propose actionable solutions, not just problems.
Design literacy — degree in Fashion Design, Garment Engineering, or related field; you read a design sketch and understand the intent behind it.
Nice-to-Have
Experience setting or contributing to brand quality standards
Basic data analysis skills — able to loop after-sales insights back into development improvements
Proficiency in ET or other CAD pattern-making software
How You Work
You don't just flag issues — you explain why and how to fix it, in language both technical and commercial audiences understand.
You respect that each brand has its own aesthetic; you adapt your approach rather than enforcing generic rules.
You're energized by cross-cultural collaboration and eager to keep growing in it.
