About This Role
Cyngn is seeking a Senior Engineering Technician to support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, debug existing hardware platforms, and collaborate directly with our engineering teams. This role requires a self-directed individual capable of managing their own time, prioritizing incoming requests, and navigating ambiguous technical challenges. The ideal candidate has practical experience with electric material handling equipment or electric vehicles and possesses strong manual fabrication and rework skills.
Responsibilities
- NPI & Assembly: Support NPI build activities, including the physical integration and wiring of autonomous vehicle hardware onto material handling platforms.
- Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Debug and resolve electrical and mechanical issues on existing test platforms and development vehicles.
- Engineering Collaboration: Work closely with hardware and software engineers to build test fixtures, execute validation procedures, and provide feedback on design manufacturability.
- Fabrication & Rework: Perform mechanical modifications and electrical rework using manual machine shop tools.
- Workflow Management: Independently manage, track, and prioritize multiple concurrent requests from the engineering team to ensure project timelines are met.
- 4 + years of Experience
- Vehicle Systems Experience: Extensive hands-on experience working with electric vehicles (EVs) or electric material handling equipment (such as electric forklifts, tuggers, or reach trucks).
- Low-Voltage DC Expertise: Proficient in troubleshooting low-voltage DC electrical systems.
- Fabrication Skills: Competent in the safe operation of manual shop tools, including manual drills, lathes, band saws, and grinders, for rapid prototyping and rework. Competent in Wiring harness assembly and validation. Some knowledge of PCB rework and soldering is a plus.
- Documentation Literacy: Ability to read, interpret, and work directly from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and CAD models.
- Professional Competencies:
- Proven ability to manage time effectively with minimal supervision.
- Strong problem-solving skills when faced with incomplete documentation or ambiguous requirements.
- Professional communication and a collaborative, solution-oriented approach when balancing competing priorities from multiple engineering stakeholders.
