Overview

The Lung Cancer Screening Patient Representative will provide administrative support to the Lung Cancer Screening Program, Clinical Operations, and clerical assistance. This individual will work to improve coordination of patient care, help patients navigate the healthcare system, reduce barriers when possible and support achievement of program deliverables through various resources. This position will require the ability to interact with personnel as well as outside agencies and patients, the ability to act independently to carry out duties and responsibilities of the job without specific supervision by people or procedure, and the aptitude to establish work priorities to meet established deadlines.

Responsibilities

Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations with patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers

Provide administrative support to the Lung Cancer Screening program and clinical operations

Perform clerical duties that contribute to the overall efficiency of the program served

Receives, prioritizes, and triages telephone calls appropriately

Composes memos, reports, minutes, and other reports as requested

Assist with data entry/management and upload of data to appropriate registries for management of the lung cancer-screening program

Using Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, enter patient encounter data and follow-up schedule.

Maintains records in an organized and timely format

Creates reports and performs other clerical/record keeping duties as requested

Promotes communication and education between the patient and healthcare provider

Makes Service Line Coordinator aware of ongoing issues

Manage and track patient referrals and scheduling/appointments/authorizations

Maintain patient confidentiality and security of their information

Promote communication between providers, patients, and others involved with patient care

Plans and participates in community education events and health fairs.

May require travel to meet the needs of the program and populations served

Excellent at communicating in a business setting, as well being detailed oriented

Provides education, support, and coordination to assist patients in securing appointments

Has a working knowledge of medical terminology and coding in reference to all screening procedures and related follow-up testing

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education

A GED or High School is a minimal educational requirement

Minimum Work Experience

At least 1 year experience functioning in a clinic or hospital

Required Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities

Highly proficient in the use of Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, Meditech, PACS, and standard office equipment.
