The Opportunity As a Career Medical Officer, you will provide comprehensive inpatient medical care under the supervision of Specialist Visiting Medical Officers (VMOs).

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments, including history taking and physical examinations
• Managing inpatient care plans and documenting clinical findings
• Ordering and interpreting investigations
• Prescribing medications and initiating appropriate treatments
• Responding to Medical Emergency Team (MET) calls
• Coordinating patient transfers where required
• Liaising with Specialists, General Practitioners, Allied Health and nursing staff
• Participating in discharge planning from admission through to discharge
• Counselling patients and their families regarding treatment plans
• Participating in clinical handovers, quality improvement initiatives and multidisciplinary meetings
• Performing procedures within your scope of practice

Procedural Skills The successful candidate will be confident in a range of core procedural skills including:

• Venepuncture and intravenous cannulation
• Airway management
• Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
• Defibrillation
• Intramuscular injections
• Safe administration of intravenous medications and fluids
• Blood product administration
• Suturing, wound care and bandaging
• Nasogastric tube insertion
• Urinary catheterisation
