About the Opportunity
A leading global financial services organization is seeking an experienced Fund Accounting Manager to join its Private Equity Fund Accounting team in Dallas. This position will oversee the accounting and reporting for complex private equity fund structures while managing and developing a team of fund accounting professionals.
The role offers significant exposure to clients, senior leadership and cross-functional teams, with responsibility for ensuring the accuracy and timely delivery of fund accounting, financial reporting and investor-related deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of Fund Accountants, Senior Fund Accountants and Supervisors, providing ongoing direction, mentorship and performance feedback.
- Oversee periodic NAV calculations for private equity funds, including financial statement preparation, trial balance reviews and partner/shareholder allocations.
- Review fund-specific expenses, including management fees, administration fees, carried interest and other applicable fees.
- Review accounting work, capital activity, investor statements, financial reporting and other client deliverables.
- Review partnership agreements, PPMs and other fund documentation to ensure accurate accounting treatment.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, regulatory requirements and established quality-control procedures.
- Coordinate external audits and serve as a point of contact for auditors and other external parties.
- Work closely with internal teams across investor relations, tax, financial reporting, waterfalls and other functions.
- Serve as a key client contact for fund accounting matters, ensuring timely and accurate responses to client requests.
- Support new client onboarding, fund conversions and other integration initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls and operational efficiency.
- Promote a high-performing team environment through training, development and proactive problem-solving.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline; CPA, CFA or other relevant professional designation is a plus.
- 3–5+ years of fund accounting experience within private equity, fund administration or a related financial services environment.
- Prior experience managing fund accounting professionals and demonstrated success in a leadership capacity.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience reviewing general ledgers and financial statements.
- Solid understanding of private equity fund structures, capital activity, allocations, fees and financial reporting.
- Strong organizational, project management and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with clients and senior stakeholders.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with Investran or another private equity fund accounting platform is highly desirable.
