The Certificate Engineer will be responsible for managing the product certification process for photovoltaic (PV) module products, encompassing coordination with accredited third-party testing laboratories, control of certification documentation, and cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing and engineering teams. The successful candidate will possess prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment and will demonstrate the ability to operate effectively and independently in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, organize, and maintain certification documentation and test reports in accordance with applicable standards and internal quality procedures
- Serve as the primary point of contact for third-party testing laboratories, managing communication, scheduling, and project timelines
- Identify, evaluate, and qualify testing laboratories and certification service providers on the basis of accreditation scope, cost, and turnaround time
- Solicit and analyze quotations from laboratories and service vendors, and support vendor selection, negotiation, and onboarding
- Establish and maintain certification tracking logs and databases to ensure full traceability of certification status
- Compile and review technical submittal packages in support of UL and IEC certification applications
- Monitor certification renewal deadlines and proactively resolve outstanding items to ensure continuous certification validity
- Liaise with production and manufacturing teams to secure product samples, technical specifications, and process data required for certification activities
- Manage multiple concurrent certification projects while adapting to evolving priorities and program requirements
- Maintain complete, well-organized, and audit-ready certification records in support of internal and external audits
Qualifications
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a manufacturing, production, or industrial quality environment
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline preferred; equivalent hands-on experience will be considered
- Demonstrated ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities
- Experience sourcing or coordinating with external laboratories, vendors, or service providers is considered an asset
- Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, including technical documentation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, with familiarity in document management systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturing or testing
- Working knowledge of UL and IEC standards or general product certification processes
- Direct experience engaging with third-party testing laboratories or certification bodies
