About The Role
As a Homeless Support Officer, you'll work alongside individuals to help them live as independently as possible, providing tailored support based on their individual needs, goals and aspirations.
Using a person-centred approach, you'll support people to develop confidence, build practical life skills and access opportunities that enhance their wellbeing and quality of life.
One day you might be supporting someone with budgeting, cooking or managing their tenancy, while the next you could be helping them access education, employment, healthcare or community activities. Every day brings new opportunities to make a meaningful difference.
What You'll Be Doing
- Building positive, professional relationships with residents and providing consistent support throughout their journey.
- Developing, reviewing and delivering person-centred support plans and risk assessments.
- Supporting residents to access education, training, volunteering and employment opportunities.
- Encouraging life skills development, independence and tenancy readiness.
- Facilitating activities that promote wellbeing, confidence, social inclusion and community engagement.
- Working closely with partner agencies including housing, health, social care and support services.
- Maintaining accurate case notes, support records and incident reporting.
- Supporting safeguarding practices and promoting the safety and wellbeing of residents.
- Undertaking housing management duties, including supporting residents with benefits, tenancy matters and rehousing pathways.
- Contributing to a safe, welcoming and supportive environment across the service.
You'll be compassionate, trustworthy and resilient, with a positive attitude and a commitment to supporting people to live the life they choose. You'll understand the importance of promoting independence, encouraging choice and empowering people to achieve their goals.
You will be someone who:
- Embodies our values of Trust, Kindness and Hope in everything you do.
- Builds strong, trusting relationships while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
- Remains calm, confident and solution-focused when faced with challenging situations.
- Shows resilience and emotional intelligence when supporting people with complex needs.
- Is comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider team.
- Embraces change, seeks solutions and works collaboratively with partner organisations.
- Takes a proactive and positive approach to supporting people to achieve their goals.
- Is committed to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.
We're particularly interested in candidates with:
- Experience delivering person-centred support to vulnerable individuals.
- Experience supporting people with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs or other complex support needs.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and the impact of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).
- Experience promoting independent living skills such as budgeting, cooking, tenancy management, education, training or employment opportunities.
- Experience working collaboratively with partner agencies, including health professionals, social workers, support providers and community organisations.
- Understanding of areas such as homelessness, mental health, substance misuse, VAWDASV, neurodiversity or related support services.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Experience managing risk, safeguarding concerns and challenging behaviours.
- Good IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Word and maintaining accurate records.
- An understanding of housing, benefits and tenancy sustainment would be advantageous.
Together, we're working to end poverty and build stronger communities across North Wales.
