ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (other duties as required):
- Educate patients on the procedures recommended by their physician
- Review Alphaon and Care Credit with the patients and provide a pamphlet if they are interested as evidenced by a patient’s financial need.
- Schedule all Consults, Surgery and Post OP appointments.
- Review all consents and surgery plans are signed and sent to the surgery center.
- Review patient chart for previous balances and check for Insurance Verification share notes.
- Collect fee for procedures in addition to, any co-pays, coinsurances and deductibles.
- Review the cost for the surgery, what is covered by insurance and what is patients’ responsibility.
- Communicate and schedule the surgery times with the patient and all other appointments needed.
- Confirm the patients scheduled for each day of surgery, all balances have been collected, and all appointments have been made.
- Assist with scheduling referrals.
- Assist in check-in and check-out, as needed.
- Assist in answering phones and returning patient calls.
- Adherence to applicable laws, regulations and contractual obligations. Follows the principles of the Compliance Program as well as the Code of Conduct.

- Experience within a professional environment with a strong customer service focus
- Previous experience in the medical field preferred; experience in optometry or ophthalmology a plus.
- High School Diploma or GED required, willing to train the right person,
- This is a full-time position located in Charleston, SC
- Monday - Friday
- Travel to other locations as necessary
