About Spatial Services
Spatial Services is responsible for delivering authoritative spatial, land and property information services for New South Wales. We provide critical systems and datasets that support land administration, planning, infrastructure delivery and emergency management across NSW. Spatial Services operates complex, enterprise-scale platforms, including large scale ESRI implementations and CadNSW, and is focused on modernising systems through cloud technologies, data integration and contemporary development practices to support users across NSW and Australia.
The roles
As a Grade 7/8 Developer, you will contribute to the design, development, enhancement and support of Spatial Services systems and platforms. You will work as part of an agile, multi-disciplinary team, applying your technical expertise to deliver reliable, secure and scalable solutions that support business outcomes.
Multiple roles are available across the following technical streams:
- CadNSW Developer
- ESRI / Spatial Developer
You may be considered for more than one stream based on your skills and experience
Key responsibilities
- Develop, test and maintain applications and services that support Spatial Services systems, including end user ESRI implementations for Topographic and Cadastral data, to CadNSW or modernising Spatial Services' Addressing systems.
- Translate defined business and technical requirements into workable development solutions
- Enhance and modernise existing solutions, including uplifting legacy or deprecating services to contemporary AWS offerings
- Integrate cloud-based and on-premises systems for Spatial Services enterprise datasets
- Apply version control, testing and deployment practices to ensure solution quality and reliability
- Investigate and resolve technical issues using logs, metrics and analytical tools
- Contribute to agile delivery activities, including sprint planning, reviews and retrospectives
- Collaborate with team members, business units and partner agencies to deliver consistent, business-aligned outcomes
To be successful in these roles you will demonstrate:
- Experience with one or more programming languages such as Python, Node.js, Java, JavaScript, Typescript or C#
- Experience using source control tools (e.g. Git)
- Experience designing and implementing unit and integration tests
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
Technical skills required
1. CadNSW Developer
- Experience developing solutions in AWS environments
- Hands-on experience with services such as Lambda, DynamoDB, OpenSearch, RDS, Step Functions and SNS/SQS
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments
2. ESRI / Spatial Developer
- Experience developing solutions using ESRI technologies (including ArcGIS Enterprise and/or ArcGIS Online) strongly focussed on ArcGIS Pro with configuration, scripting and ESRI Addin development
- Experience with spatial data services, spatial APIs, spatial quality control and developing end user custom solutions
- Integration of spatial data with enterprise systems
Desirable (one or more)
- Knowledge of CadNSW or digitised plan formats
- Experience working in spatial, land or property systems
- Experience working in large, complex or government environments
- Familiarity with agile delivery methodologies

Essential Requirements
To be considered for roles in the NSW public sector, applicants must:
- Be NSW residents or in the process of relocating to NSW
- Hold appropriate working rights for the type of employment offered - Fixed Term roles require valid work rights for the full duration of the role
