About the Role:
Remitly holds money transmission and payments authorizations across the United States and more than ten international jurisdictions. As Senior Manager, Global License and Examination Management, you'll lead the team responsible for keeping those licenses in good standing and for making sure Remitly is ready the moment a regulator arrives.
You'll work in close partnership with Remitly's Compliance Officers, who own regulatory relationships and interpret jurisdictional requirements. Your team owns examination coordination and response, license operationalization, and the ongoing filings and renewals that keep our authorizations valid, worldwide. This role is based in Seattle, WA on a hybrid schedule.
You Will:
Global examination management
- Own examination readiness across every jurisdiction where Remitly holds an authorization including US state exams, multi-state exams, and international regulator inspections.
- Manage the global examination calendar
- Build a reusable evidence library
- Track findings from receipt through verified closure, and report examination posture to the Chief Compliance Officer at board-ready quality.
- Take newly granted licenses from award to steady state including obligation calendars, reporting schedules, and control ownership.
- Own recurring filings, notifications, attestations, and renewals across the global portfolio.
- Monitor financial condition requirements (net worth, permissible investments, capital) with Treasury and Accounting, and flag headroom risk early.
- Manage the surety bond program and all change-of-control, material-change, and officer/director notifications.
- Maintain the license inventory of record
- Maintain licenses and registrations across all states and territories, including NMLS company, branch, and control person records.
- Run the annual renewal cycle, filing MSB Call Reports and state periodic reports.
- Maintain Remitly's FinCEN MSB registration and prepare incremental US applications as products and entities require.
- Improve tracking systems for licenses, obligations, and examinations.
- Define and report program metrics
- Identify where technology and AI can scale the program and build the case for investment.
- Lead a global team, including two managers, across multiple time zones and regions.
- Own hiring, performance management, professional development and budget for your team
You Have:
- 8+ years in financial services regulatory compliance, licensing, or examination management, including 4+ years leading a team.
- Cross-border remittance, money transmission, or consumer payments experience. This includes familiarity with US state money transmission regimes (including Money Transmission Modernization Act adoption).
- Direct, company-side experience leading financial services regulatory examinations including managing document requests and supporting findings responses.
- Hands-on ownership of a licensing portfolio, including renewals and financial condition requirements, with direct NMLS experience.
- A track record of delivering outcomes through partners you don't manage, in a matrixed compliance model.
- The ability to turn a reporting requirement into a spec an analyst or engineer can build from — comfortable with hands-on validation.
- A record of building systematic processes to support compliance programs.
- Precise written communication for internal, external, and senior audiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Multi-jurisdiction experience, with a working understanding of how examination methodology differs across regimes.
- Experience operationalizing a newly granted license in a jurisdiction new to your organization.
- Prior service on the regulator side — a state financial regulator, CSBS, or a non-US authority.
- JD, CAMS, or CRCM
Compensation Details. The starting base salary range for this position is typically $176,000 -$220,000. In the U.S., Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan.
